There’s no one like you and that’s why there’s nowhere like RSM.\nTemporary Manager - AML Internal Audit (Risk Consulting)\nRSM is seeking a Manager to join our Risk Consulting practice supporting large Global Banking clients. This professional will lead and execute risk-based AML Internal Audit engagements within complex financial services organizations. The role is focused on Third Line of Defense activities and requires a strong understanding of AML regulations, Internal Audit methodology, audit documentation standards, regulatory expectations, and financial crimes risk management.\nThe ideal candidate will have deep AML Internal Audit experience and the ability to independently manage audits from planning and risk assessment through reporting, issue validation, and remediation testing.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and execute AML Internal Audit engagements across large global banking organizations.\nManage the full audit lifecycle, including risk assessment, planning, scoping, walkthroughs, test plan development, fieldwork, issue identification, reporting, and validation testing.\nApply risk-based audit methodology, professional auditing standards, sampling techniques, and testing approaches throughout engagements.\nDevelop audit programs, risk and control matrices (RCMs), process narratives, testing strategies, and test scripts.\nPrepare comprehensive, well-supported workpapers that clearly document testing performed, evidence reviewed, results, and conclusions.\nAssess control design and operating effectiveness related to AML and Financial Crimes risks.\nIdentify control weaknesses, regulatory risks, and process gaps and provide practical recommendations for improvement.\nDraft clear, concise audit observations and reports, including root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.\nPresent results to senior stakeholders and effectively challenge management responses when appropriate.\nPerform issue validation and remediation testing related to audit findings, MRAs, consent orders, and regulatory actions.\nPartner with Compliance, Risk Management, Financial Crimes, Operations, Technology, and Internal Audit stakeholders.\nReview junior team members' work and provide coaching to ensure quality and consistency.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.\n7+ years of Internal Audit experience within a large financial institution, global bank, or consulting firm.\n5+ years of direct AML Internal Audit experience.\nDemonstrated experience independently leading risk-based audits from planning through reporting and issue validation.\nStrong knowledge of Internal Audit methodology, workpaper standards, audit documentation requirements, sampling methodologies, and quality assurance expectations.\nHands-on experience developing audit programs, RCMs, test scripts, workpapers, control assessments, findings, and final reports.\nDeep knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC and sanctions requirements, and financial crimes controls.\nExperience evaluating control design and operating effectiveness and supporting conclusions with sufficient and appropriate evidence.\nStrong project management, stakeholder management, written communication, and presentation skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCIA, CAMS, CFCS, CPA, or other relevant certification.\nExperience supporting regulatory remediation programs, consent orders, MRAs, and issue validation activities.\nExperience with audit management tools such as TeamMate, Archer, or similar platforms.\nFamiliarity with AML technologies including Actimize, Verafin, SAS AML, Oracle FCCM, or comparable solutions.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on AML Internal Audit professional who understands how to execute a risk-based audit from start to finish. This individual can translate risk into audit scope, develop effective audit programs, assess controls, perform and document testing, prepare defensible workpapers, identify meaningful issues, and deliver high-quality reporting that meets Internal Audit, regulatory, and client expectations.
