we're currently hiring candidates for an existing vacancy in this position.\nJob Summary:\nThe Senior Financial Analyst provides direction to the Financial Analyst while providing operational support to the Finance Directors or Senior Finance Managers This role includes general accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis and process improvement responsibilities.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPrepares general accounting entries for the monthly and year-end close for both VON Canada and the VON Canada Pension Plan.\nPrepares working papers and account analysis to support monthly and annual financial statements for various GL accounts.\nConducts analysis and provides updates of the GIC portfolio and cash reserve accounts.\nProvides analytical support to Finance and others in Corporate Services.\nAssists with the annual VON budget process.\nMaintains the General Ledger master data and reports in SAP.\nCreates new assets in the SAP fixed asset module.\nProvides support to SAP users for banking, fixed assets, and general ledger.\nPrepares and records the monthly vacation accrual for VON Canada.\nPrepares year-end audit working papers for both VON Canada and the VON Canada Pension Plan.\nPrepares draft financial statements for the VON Canada Pension Plan.\nIntroduces and implements process changes to support ongoing process improvement and or system changes.\nIdentifies/supports/implements initiatives that improve internal controls, increase operating efficiency, and safeguard the assets of the organization.\nPrepares the HST rebate submission for VON Canada.\nProvides guidance and technical oversight to the Financial Analyst (1)\nPrepares consolidated financial and management reports as required.\nPrepares T3010 charitable returns for various legal entities as required.\nCommon Responsibilities:\nPromotes the goals and values of VON and their role as an integrated community care provider.\nPromotes a safe and healthy workplace ensuring workplace conduct and activities are in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and compliant with the VON Safety Management System, including all Policies, Safe Work Practices and Procedures.\nAbides by all VON policies and work practices.\nAbides by all confidentiality and protection of personal information policies, regulations and practices and ensures appropriate safeguards are in place within their role.\nWorks in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery.\nExternal and Internal Relationships:\nDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with corporate services staff and senior management team.\nDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders such as banking institutions and auditors and the custodian of the VON Canada Pension Plan.\nEducation, Designations and Experience:\nPost-secondary degree in business, finance or accounting.\nProfessional accounting designation (CPA - CMA, CGA or CA) or working toward one. \nMinimum 5 years of general accounting and financial analysis experience.\nExperience working in not-for-profit sector is considered a strong asset.\nSkill Requirements:\nWorking knowledge of SAP and BOARD\nAdvanced Excel skills\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nCommitment to achieving results and achieving deadlines.\nExcellent oral and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.\nAbility to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.\nHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail.\nAble to work both independently and within a team.\nAbility to maintain confidentiality at all times.\nOther:\nA current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.\nA Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.\nMust be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)\nWorking conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
