The team works to ensure the ongoing security, resilience, and compliance of Raytheon UK's critical systems, infrastructure, and services.\nSummary of Role\nWe are seeking a Cyber Engineer to join our Cyber Security team. This is a varied and hands-on role within our cybersecurity organisation, working closely with SOC analysts, infrastructure teams, network specialists, information assurance personnel, and third-party service providers to protect the organisation from cyber threats.\nThe Cyber Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of security technologies and cyber defence capabilities across the enterprise. This includes supporting and enhancing security monitoring platforms, vulnerability management solutions, endpoint security controls, data loss prevention technologies, and cloud and network security services.\nAs a technical security subject matter expert, you will work across multiple technology domains, partnering with Network, Infrastructure, Data Centre, Cloud, and Architecture teams to embed security best practices and ensure that security solutions remain effective, resilient, and aligned with business requirements.\nYou will be responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of cyber security technologies, ensuring they remain available, secure, and fit for purpose. The role also includes delivering platform upgrades, supporting security projects, managing technology changes, and collaborating with external vendors and service partners to maintain and enhance cyber security capabilities.\nThis role provides an excellent opportunity to influence the organisation's cyber strategy while delivering practical engineering solutions that strengthen security across the business.\nMain Duties\nAdminister, maintain, and enhance cyber security technologies across the enterprise, including SIEM, DLP, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, email security, and web security platforms. \nRespond to requests from Security Operations, Incident Response, and Vulnerability Management teams to optimise and improve security tooling and associated configurations. \nDesign, implement, and maintain security controls that support business, regulatory, and operational requirements. \nWork closely with Network, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Data Centre teams to ensure architecture and security controls are deployed effectively and securely. \nSupport the development, implementation, and continual improvement of security monitoring, detection, and response capabilities. \nMaintain the operational availability, performance, and security of cyber security platforms. \nPlan, prepare, test, and execute technology upgrades, patches, and configuration changes across cyber security infrastructure. \nRecord faults, perform troubleshooting activities, and coordinate repairs or vendor support activities where required. \nConduct Moves, Adds, Changes, and Deletes (MACD) activities in accordance with approved processes and change management procedures. \nEnsure all security platforms are maintained to the required patching and compliance standards. \nManage and coordinate maintenance activities through established change control processes. \nMaintain accurate Configuration Items (CIs) and associated records within the CMDB. \nProduce reports on platform availability, capacity, security risks, vulnerabilities, incidents, and continual service improvement activities. \nSupport cyber security projects and initiatives, including new technology deployments and capability enhancements. \nAct as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to operational cyber teams and business stakeholders. \nManage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners where required. \nTechnologies\nExperience with some or all of the following technologies would be beneficial:\nForcepoint DLP \nForcepoint Web Security \nForcepoint Email Security \nNexpose / InsightVM \nIBM QRadar SIEM \nMicrosoft Defender Suite \nEndpoint Protection Platforms (EPP/EDR) \nVulnerability Management Solutions \nNetwork Security and Monitoring Tools \nCandidate Requirements\nEssential\nExperience implementing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise cyber security technologies. \nExperience developing automation, scripting, or security tooling using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages. \nExperience working within MOD, Defence, Government, or other highly regulated environments (e.g. banking, telecommunications, critical national infrastructure). \nExperience supporting security monitoring, detection, and response capabilities. \nUnderstanding of threat intelligence and its application to security controls, use cases, and detection engineering. \nKnowledge of designing, implementing, and supporting secure systems in line with HMG security requirements. \nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure, security, and network technologies. \nSelf-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively. \nExperience administering security platforms, including SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and data protection technologies. \nExperience integrating, onboarding, and troubleshooting log sources and security telemetry. \nAbility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC). \nStrong understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, routing, switching, and associated technologies. \nExperience working with technologies from vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent. \nExcellent stakeholder engagement and customer-facing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. \nKnowledge of cyber security frameworks and best practices, including: \nNIST 800-53 \nNIST 800-171 \nISO 27001 \nCIS Controls \nNCSC guidance \nDesirable\nDegree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. \nExperience with cloud security technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 security services. \nExperience supporting vulnerability management and remediation programmes. \nExperience with security architecture, engineering, or security solution design activities. \nInformation Security certifications such as: \nSecurity+ \nCISSP \nCISM \nGSEC \nSSCP \nGIAC certifications \nTechnical certifications such as: \nMicrosoft Security Certifications
