Furnace Deck Operator I is an entry level operator that will become proficient with basic operations of the furnace process by focusing on furnace preparation, load building, furnace reading, rounds, and process flow. Ongoing training is provided for process control and thorough understanding of auxiliary equipment. Is constantly aware of, and looks for, ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace.\nDemonstration of understanding and implementation of BBS (Behavior Based Safety).\nUtilize Lean Manufacturing tools such as KAS, 5S, TPM and other continuous process improvement tools.\nMonitor metrics in the work area. Take appropriate and timely action when metrics indicate downward trends or fall below acceptable limits.\nQualifications You Must Have\nTypically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.\nExperience using hand tools\nQualifications We Prefer\nPast work experience or demonstration of mechanical aptitude.\nIndustrial experience preferred.\nPrior experience working in manufacturing environment desired.\nAbility to operate all department equipment including but not limited to: overhead cranes, pneumatic devices, vacuum equipment, fork trucks, hand trucks, optical pyrometers and hand tools.\nAbility to problem solve and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.
