Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX.\nThe Materials Engineer will support a major Packaging and Handling (P&H) assessment effort for Northeast facilities. This role will focus initially on evaluating materials, reviewing documentation, and developing packaging/handling requirements for incoming parts. Following the completion of this project, the role will transition into steady-state responsibilities involving maintaining P&H requirements, incoming material testing, review of Certificates of Analysis, and verification of compliance to specifications. The position requires strong analytical skills, collaboration with subject matter experts, and hands-on laboratory experience.\nWhat You Will Do\nEvaluate drawings and specifications of incoming parts to determine appropriate packaging and handling requirements based on material characteristics.\nEngage with subject matter experts to understand material usage, environmental sensitivities, and manufacturing considerations.\nReview material documentation, specifications, and technical data sheets; develop recommendations based on engineering judgment.\nClearly document findings and support integration of packaging/handling requirements into formal coding and standards.\nFollow established protocols and contribute to the development of new test plans, fixtures, and custom test setups.\nAs the project transitions to steady-state responsibilities, you will also:\nConduct hands-on material testing using standard laboratory techniques and equipment to verify compliance with required specifications.\nReview Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and confirm adherence to material, chemical, and performance requirements.\nInvestigate and resolve discrepancies between COAs and specifications in collaboration with suppliers, quality, and engineering teams.\nMaintain accurate documentation of incoming inspections, validation activities, and material test results.\nQualifications You Must Have\nBachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, evaluating plots and experimental data sets, performing statistical analysis, and generating technical summaries\nHands-on experience performing general wet laboratory procedures, such as sample preparation, dilutions, and safe handling of chemicals within a laboratory environment\nThe ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
