Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.\nWhat You Will Do\nJoin the Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization and contribute mechanical engineering expertise to mission-critical defense systems across radar, missile, and command-and-control platforms. In this role, you will participate across the entire product lifecycle-from initial concept design and structural/thermal analysis to rapid prototyping, design verification testing, and factory support. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, you will solve complex technical challenges to deliver robust, high-reliability mechanical solutions.\nOccasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer-duration travel assignments are available but optional.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, model, and document mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and major end items in accordance with rigorous defense system requirements.\nGenerate and maintain parametric 3D CAD models, complex assembly hierarchies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.\nValidate design fit, form, and functionality through rapid prototyping, physical testing, and engineering simulations.\nSupport factory operations, integration facilities, and external suppliers with product manufacturing, assembly, and integration.\nParticipate actively in design peer reviews, resolve technical action items, and conduct trade studies to inform engineering decisions.\nCollaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to analyze and resolve mechanical hardware issues.\nQualifications You Must Have\nBachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.\nExperience utilizing parametric 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, or Siemens NX) to generate 3D solid models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.\nExperience in mechanical design applied through coursework, academic research, engineering competition teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja, Robotics), or hands-on projects.\nExperience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.\nQualifications We Prefer\n\nMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.\nCumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from an ABET-accredited institution.\nKnowledge or application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles per ASME/ANSI Y14.5.\nHands-on experience in rapid prototyping and mechanical fabrication, including additive manufacturing (3D printing via FDM, SLA, or SLS) or machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, or CNC equipment).\nDemonstrated problem-solving aptitude applied to structural, thermal, or multi-disciplinary hardware challenges.\nWhat We Offer:\nOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
