Our solutions power virtually every aircraft in the sky, enabling safer, smarter, and more efficient flight.\nIf you're passionate about building mission-critical embedded software that meets the highest standards of safety and reliability, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.\nPrincipal Engineer - Safety-Critical Embedded Software\nWhat You'll Do\nAs a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of safety-critical avionics software for next-generation aerospace platforms.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nDevelop and validate complex safety-critical embedded software applications.\n\nLead software development across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).\n\nAnalyze customer and system requirements, translating them into high-level and low-level software requirements.\n\nDefine software architecture, design approaches, and verification strategies.\n\nDevelop and review software test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.\n\nEnsure compliance with aerospace certification standards and engineering best practices.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Certification, and Program Management.\n\nDrive technical excellence while mentoring engineers and contributing to continuous process improvements.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related STEM discipline.\n\n12+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably within the aerospace or other safety-critical industries.\n\n8+ Years of Strong knowledge of aerospace software certification standards:\nDO-178\n\nARP4754A\n\n6+ Years of Solid understanding of avionics communication protocols:\nARINC 429\n\nAFDX\n\nARINC 653\n\nARINC 615A\n\n8+ Years of Strong expertise in software lifecycle processes, requirements engineering, and verification methodologies.\n\n7+ Years of Experience deriving software requirements from customer and system-level requirements.\n\n8+ Years of Proven experience defining software verification and validation strategies.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n6+ Years of Hands-on embedded software development experience using C++.\n\nProgramming experience in embedded systems and scripting languages.\n\nKnowledge of Flight Management Systems (FMS).\n\nExposure to aerospace certification and regulatory compliance processes.\n\nStrong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills.\n\nWhy Join Collins Aerospace?\nAt Collins Aerospace, your work directly impacts millions of passengers and defense personnel worldwide.
