Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.\nWhat You Will Do:\nPratt & Whitney, Materials and Process Engineering (MPE) organization in East Hartford, CT is looking for a highly motivated Senior Principal Engineer- Materials and Process Modeling who can support the development and implementation of modeling tools and methods for gas turbine engine applications.\nDuties and responsibilities include:\nA successful candidate will become part of a highly focused materials modeling team in a fast moving and challenging environment. \nThey will support the development, implementation, and maturation of various materials process and property models and simulations.\nDevelopment, implementation, and execution of tools and methods for computational materials in material systems relevant to gas turbine engines.\nProvision of expertise in atomistic (molecular dynamics, ab initio, or similar) simulation techniques for materials modeling.\nCritical assessment of the maturity, capability, and suitability of materials modeling tools for meeting business needs.\nCollaboration with technology development, characterization, lifing, and design teams to support manufacturing and development goals.\nLeadership of technical projects, including planning, cost estimation, and execution.\nIdentifying and pursuing opportunities for external funding, including government contracts.\nQualifications You Must Have:\nBachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.\n8+ years of experience in Materials and Process Modeling Techniques OR an Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience in Materials and Process Modeling Techniques.\nU.S. person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorization required.\nQualifications We Prefer:\nPhD degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy\n10+ years of experience with Materials Modeling or Process Modeling\nExpertise in atomistic simulation methods, including molecular dynamics (MD), ab initio / density functional theory (DFT), ML & MLIP, Monte Carlo, and similar techniques.\nExpertise in one or more key materials manufacturing processes (such as coating, forging, or machining), and aerospace material systems (such as NI-base superalloys, and thermal barrier coatings).\nProficiency in programing languages such as FORTRAN, Python, and/or C++ for both numerical programming and general purpose software development.\nWhat We Offer:\nBenefits\nRelocation Package \nLearn More & Apply Now\nWhat Is My Role Type: In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work.
