Location: Tucson, AZ\nWhat You Will Do\nAs a Principal Human Factors Engineer, your responsibilities will include:\nServing as the Human Factors Engineering (HFE) and Human Systems Integration (HSI) lead for one or more programs, establishing technical direction and execution strategy throughout the system lifecycle.\nLeading the development, implementation, and execution of MIL-STD-1472-compliant HFE programs and associated analyses. Acting as the primary Human Factors technical interface with customers, program leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure human-centered design principles are integrated into system development.\nDriving the integration of HFE across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), influencing system architecture, requirements development, design decisions, verification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.\nLeading HFE contributions to system safety efforts, including identifying human-related hazards, performing risk assessments, and developing design controls in collaboration with System Safety Engineering.\nCoordinating with customer representatives and government stakeholders to interpret, refine, and allocate Human Factors requirements across software, hardware, training, maintenance, and operational domains.\nReviewing, approving, and providing technical oversight of HFE analyses, assessments, reports, and engineering recommendations. Briefing Human Factors status, technical risks, findings, and recommendations to program leadership, customers, and engineering review boards.\nInterpreting system requirements, customer specifications, military standards, and contractual requirements to develop actionable Human Factors solutions.\nCollaborating across Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Logistics, Training, and System Safety organizations to ensure effective Human Systems Integration.\nLeading Human Factors Working Groups and participating in System Safety Working Groups, Engineering Review Boards, and customer technical interchange meetings.\nDeveloping and maintaining strong customer relationships while serving as a trusted advisor on Human Factors and HSI matters.\nSupporting proposal efforts through technical solution development, BOE generation, staffing recommendations, and authoring proposal content.\nIdentifying opportunities to improve Human Factors processes, tools, methodologies, and organizational capabilities.\nProviding technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to HFE/HSI practitioners, promoting best practices and technical excellence.\nMentoring early and mid-career engineers through coaching, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing.\nExercising significant independent judgment to resolve complex technical challenges involving human performance, usability, safety, maintainability, training, and operational effectiveness.\nSupporting multiple programs and organizational initiatives as an HFE/HSI subject matter expert.\nTravel up to 20%\n\nQualifications You Must Have\nTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience\nExperience with Human Systems Integration, Human Factors Engineering or Safety Engineering.\nExperience with DoD Human Factors Programs e.g. MIL-STD-1472.\nExperience developing, implementing, and/or performing Human Engineering Program Plans, Human Engineering Assessments and/or Analyses.\nQualifications We Prefe r\nActive/Existing DoD clearance\nFamiliarity with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, Human Factors Working Groups, and System Safety Working Groups.\nExperience with digital human modeling analysis.\nExperience with Manpower/Personnel Analysis.\nExperience with Human Performance Modeling (cognitive workload, manpower, and/or crew endurance modeling).\nExperience with Personnel Survivability and or/Habitability.\nExperience applying human factors engineering to the design of training systems and simulators.\nExperience with Human Factors requirements analysis.\nExperience with User Interface and developing wireframes.\nExperience interfacing with System Safety Engineering showcasing execution of tasking involving MIL-STD-882 and System Safety Engineering practices.\nExperience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.\nHuman Factors-related education and BS/MS/PhD in one of the following (or closely related) disciplines: Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering.\nWhat We Offer\nOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
