Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.\nThe Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.\nWe have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to support our radar development programs. This person will be responsible for leading mechanical teams in all phases of our design cycles, from concept development through design, development, building and tests. Key requirements for this position include proven problem-solving skills and experience in hardware design and integration, engineering analysis, and mechanical drawing creation with military hardware. Individuals will interface and collaborate primarily with other engineering disciplines, as well as operations, systems, quality and program offices.\nThis Principal Engineer is an on-site role based in Marlborough or Tewksbury, MA.\nWhat You Will Do\nUtilize mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized structures, interconnects, electromechanical development, cooling, or array integration of phase array radars/electronics for multiple military programs.\nDevelop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of phase array radars/electronics for multiple military programs.\nEmploy transition-to-production practices with the ability to lead a design release into production.\nProvide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements while helping to remove roadblocks.\nWork with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment while meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.\nLead a small team of mechanical engineers when required.\nCollaborate frequently with cross-functional personnel, on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.\nQualifications You Must Have\nTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.\nExperience in the design of radar architecture or electronics packaging for military or aerospace or commercial applications.\nExperience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).\nQualifications We Prefer\nExperience with ANSI drawing standards and/or first order or structural analysis techniques.\nExperience with design to military standards.\nExperience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.\nCognizant of machine and designing capabilities or have direct experience in manufacturing and assembly support role for producibility.\nFamiliarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, mechanical/RF components, metal housings, structures, and electronics assemblies.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\nExcellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members and customers.\nAdvanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.\nWhat We Offer\nA total rewards package that goes above and beyond with compensation; healthcare, wellness, and work/life benefits; career development and recognition programs.
