Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.\nWithin the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.\nThe UES department is looking for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to become a member of the ESSM® Missile Launcher team. This role will be on-site and located in Portsmouth, RI.\nWhat You Will Do\nPerform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.\nCollaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (i.e. structural/thermal analyses and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment.\nSupport the factory and suppliers with product integration\nParticipate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.\nWork with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.\nMust Have\nTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.\nExperience in leading small development efforts and teams with cost and schedule responsibility\nExperience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), Tolerance Analysis, metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal), assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts)\nExperience with CAD modeling and Engineering Documentation practices.\nThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.\nQualifications We Prefer\nExperience in specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
