In this role, you will provide technical expertise and leadership in developing high-performance opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware for state-of-the-art defense products. This position bridges advanced engineering with program management, requiring you to drive detailed component and system-level designs while balancing Statement of Work (SOW) deliverables, budgets, and schedules.\nWhat You Will Do:\nTechnical Leadership & Oversight: Lead an engineering team focused on opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.\nOversee critical technical efforts including drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, IR drop calculations, and Power/Signal Integrity (PI/SI) analysis.\nProgram Management & Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between the Program Office, Chief Engineer’s Office, and external suppliers.\nTrack schedule milestones, optimize resource allocation, and collaborate across optical, systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure top-tier design and build quality.\nEnsure obsolescence is effectively managed by identifying and qualifying replacement parts to support rate production.\nSupply Chain & Manufacturing Support: Partner with procurement, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to maintain stable production pipelines.\nSupport supplier onboarding and scaling activities, and manage priorities for a production program.\nRequirements & Compliance Engineering: Ensure strict adherence to requirements and engineering principles.\nPrepare and present technical data packages to Engineering Review Boards (ERB), Material Review Boards (MRB), and Change Boards, aligning Engineering and Operations on implementation and maintenance of engineering changes.\nR&D & Prototyping: Lead proof-of-concept designs for integrating new technologies and contribute to Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives.\nTesting & Hardware Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive environmental qualification test plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).\nLead root-cause investigations and implement verified corrective actions for hardware anomalies.\nFlexibility: Ability to work extended hours and travel as needed to meet program requirements.\nTravel: Up to 25% travel required for supplier management and site visits.\nAdditional: Perform duties assigned by the Office of Chief Engineering (OCE) and the IPT Lead.\nMust be capable of rapidly troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.\n Qualifications You Must Have:\nTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience\nExperience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.\nIndustry Exposure: Experience across multiple DoD programs or similarly complex development efforts.\nEngineering Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.\nDesign & Compliance: Proven success developing high-performance hardware meeting stringent specifications and compliance standards.\nTroubleshooting & Testing: Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude with a track record of solving complex electro-mechanical issues.\nTechnical Documentation: Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and performing precise tolerance stack-up analyses.\nCore Competencies: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.\nSecurity Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required.\n Qualifications We Prefer:\nEngineering Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in aerospace, defense, or related industries.\nHardware Background: Prior experience designing opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electrical hardware.\nFinite Element Analysis (FEA): Advanced experience in thermal, structural, and transient shock modeling.\nEnvironmental Design: Demonstrated ability to engineer ruggedized hardware capable of withstanding extreme shock, vibration, and thermal environments.\nCAD Software: Strong experience with PTC Creo Parametric or comparable CAD platforms.\nSimulation Software: Expertise with Ansys for electromagnetic (EM) and heat-transfer modeling.\nWhat We Offer\nOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
