Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/\nAbout the role\nWe are hiring an Accounting Automation Engineer to replace manual accounting work across a multi-entity, multi-country enterprise, using Claude Code and agentic AI.\nYou will use Claude Code and agentic AI, plus Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, to automate accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end close and the wider day-to-day accounting operation. You need strong IFRS or US GAAP knowledge to get the numbers right, because an automation that posts wrong entries is worse than no automation.\nWe build agentic AI systems and AI agents, not fixed step-by-step workflows. Experience with rule-based workflow builders such as n8n or Zapier is not relevant to this role.\nTitles we will consider: Accounting Automation Engineer, Finance Engineer, Financial Systems Engineer, Technical Accountant (with engineering background), Accounting Systems Manager (with engineering background).\nKey Responsibilities\nThe goal is to automate the repeatable core of enterprise accounting, with human review kept only where judgment is needed.\nAccounts payable\nInvoice capture and data extraction from PDFs and email, using AI where useful\n\nVendor matching, coding suggestions, and 2-way/3-way PO matching\n\nDuplicate invoice detection and approval routing\n\nPayment run preparation and vendor statement reconciliation\n\nAccounts receivable\nInvoice generation and delivery\n\nCash application and bank receipt matching\n\nAging reports, dunning and collections reminders\n\nCredit note handling and bad debt/ECL provision support\n\nReconciliations\nBank and card reconciliations across all accounts and currencies\n\nBalance sheet account reconciliations (prepayments, accruals, deferred revenue, fixed assets)\n\nIntercompany and subledger-to-GL reconciliations\n\nException reports that flag only the items a human needs to review\n\nMonth-end close\nClose checklist tracking and scheduled reminders\n\nRecurring, accrual, prepayment and amortization journals\n\nDepreciation runs and FX revaluation\n\nTrial balance checks, flux/variance analysis, and draft commentary\n\nManagement reporting packs\n\nGeneral accounting operations\nExpense report and employee reimbursement checks\n\nChart of accounts and master data hygiene\n\nAudit support: evidence collection, PBC lists, sample extraction\n\nData pipelines between ERP, banks, payment platforms and spreadsheets\n\nQualifications\nTwo things matter most, and we weigh them above everything else:\nStrong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP\n\nReal experience with AI coding tools, ideally Claude Code, backed by solid engineering basics\n\nWe accept two paths: an accountant who learned to code, or an engineer who learned accounting. Both are judged on the same practical test.\nHands-on experience building automations with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript (either is fine)\n\nDaily, hands-on use of AI coding tools, ideally Claude Code, with solid engineering basics, shipping working scripts and agents\n\nAbility to run local scripts and schedule jobs (cron, task schedulers or CI pipelines)\n\nStrong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP, shown by ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent, or by several years of hands-on accounting experience\n\nExperience with core processes: AP, AR, bank reconciliation, month-end close\n\nComfort working with APIs and MCP servers, CSV/Excel data and basic SQL\n\nCare for accuracy, controls and audit trails\n\nNice to have\nExperience in multi-entity or multi-currency environments, including intercompany and consolidation\n\nExperience reconciling payment processor statements across multiple jurisdictions and currencies\n\nExperience with shared cost services that invoice group companies, including complex expense splits and automated invoice generation\n\nExperience with an ERP and its API (which ERP does not matter)\n\nExperience building AI agents and agentic workflows, including tool use and MCP servers\n\nKnowledge of VAT/GST and e-invoicing rules in several jurisdictions\n\nExperience with Git, testing and basic cloud deployment\n\nPrior experience in a finance transformation or accounting operations team\n\nAdditional languages, where our entities operate in non-English markets\n\nLocation\nRuby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone.
