This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational health and safety regulations. The EHS Group Lead will work closely with the Environmental, Health & Safety Director to implement enterprise-wide standardized processes at the local factory. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, regulatory fluency, and the ability to guide operational teams toward continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities:\nEnvironmental Compliance & Reporting\nManage and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, including but not limited to RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, SPCC, and local ordinances.\nLead and coordinate the accurate and timely submission of all required environmental reporting at the federal, state, and local levels.\nMaintain all required documentation and electronic filing systems in a ready-for-audit state.\nCoordinate with vendors and haulers for waste removal and maintenance activities.\nHealth & Safety Oversight\nEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations, including maintaining and posting OSHA 300 logs.\nLead weekly safety inspections, including spill kits, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and PPE stations.\nOversee incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions using root cause analysis.\nSupport and manage workers’ compensation claims and reporting, coordinating with HR, occupational health support, and insurance providers.\nProcess Improvement & Lean Integration\nPartner with the EHS Director to apply Lean manufacturing principles to the environmental program as a strategy for pollution prevention, waste minimization, and efficiency improvements.\nAssist in the development of standardized documentation templates, inspection forms, and reporting workflows.\nIdentify process inefficiencies and support resolution through structured root cause analysis and preventive action planning.\nCollaborate closely with operations and maintenance personnel, serving as an environmental, health, and safety advisor to facility leadership.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or related field preferred; equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.\nMinimum of 4 years of relevant experience in EHS in a manufacturing or industrial environment.\nStrong working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and OSHA standards.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nDemonstrated ability to influence without authority, enforce standards, and communicate across departments.\nFamiliarity with wastewater treatment, hazardous waste handling, and chemical storage practices.\nExperience with Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies is a plus.\nCompetency in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.\nClear and confident communication with both frontline staff and facility leadership.\nExceptional organizational and documentation skills.\nProactive problem-solver with a commitment to continuous improvement.\nAbility to work independently, prioritize tasks, and lead cross-functional initiatives.\nComfortable coordinating with regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal departments.\nBenefits:\nCompetitive compensation package including competitive salary, profit sharing and bonus\nHeath benefits including medical, dental, and vision\nLife and Retirement benefits including 401k match, company 401k contribution, basic and supplemental life options, as well as short- and long-term disability plans\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\nRelocation Assistance is available for the right candidate\nCasual work environment\nAbout the company:\nSturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. is one of the nation's leading manufacturers of rugged, reliable firearms for the commercial sporting market, all made in America.
