This role will troubleshoot equipment issues, support startups and commissioning, maintain controls documentation, and partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and automation integrators to improve uptime, safety, reliability, and manufacturing performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide hands-on technical support for production controls, automation systems, robotics, cobots, CNC machine-tending equipment, and related manufacturing systems.\nTroubleshoot PLC, HMI, servo, robot, cobot, network, and machine-control issues to reduce downtime and restore production quickly.\nSupport equipment startups, commissioning, production ramp-up, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.\nModify and maintain PLC logic, HMI screens, Fanuc robot and cobot programs, electrical schematics, control narratives, backup files, and system manuals.\nWork with suppliers, automation equipment integrators, vendors, maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to resolve controls issues and implement approved improvements.\nAssist with the selection, replacement, and standardization of controls hardware, sensors, drives, and automation components.\nProvide technical guidance and training to maintenance, production, and engineering personnel on controls systems, troubleshooting practices, and safe equipment operation.\nSupport safety, quality, uptime, throughput, OSHA compliance, machine guarding, and safe equipment operation.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent controls, automation, or manufacturing equipment experience.\n5+ years of experience supporting industrial controls, machine automation, electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, or manufacturing equipment reliability.\nWorking knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, servo systems, machine controls, electrical schematics, and controls documentation.\nAbility to work effectively with production, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and integrators in a hands-on manufacturing environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Allen-Bradley systems, SolidWorks Electrical Schematics Professional, and Fanuc robots or cobots.\nExperience with Fanuc DCS, robot safety functions, machine guarding, robot simulation, offline programming, or Fanuc RoboGuide.\nExperience working with suppliers and automation equipment integrators from concept through commissioning.\nExperience with CNC automation machine tending.\nExpected Impact\nThe Controls Engineer will help Ruger reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, strengthen safe machine operation, maintain accurate controls documentation, and support consistent manufacturing performance.\nAdditional Requirements:\nMust be able to successfully pass a drug and background screen\nMust be eligible to handle firearms per the Federal Firearms Act\n\nBenefits:\nCompetitive compensation package including competitive salary, profit sharing and bonus\nHeath benefits including medical, dental, and vision\nLife and Retirement benefits including 401k match, company 401k contribution, basic and supplemental life options, as well as short- and long-term disability plans\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\nRelocation Assistance is available for the right candidate\nCasual work environment\nAbout the company:\nSturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. is one of the nation's leading manufacturers of rugged, reliable firearms for the commercial sporting market, all made in America.
