We currently hire in most U.S. states, with the exception of Hawaii.\nAbout the Role\nAt Rula, improving access to mental healthcare starts with building a healthy and efficient marketplace for both patients and providers. We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help shape the future of the Marketplace Health Engine, a foundational initiative focused on improving marketplace efficiency, provider utilization, and patient access at scale.\nIn this high-impact role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations to design and deliver scalable systems that help identify and address marketplace challenges. You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and influence key decisions across the Marketplace organization while remaining hands-on in software development.\nIf you’re excited about building systems from the ground up, solving complex marketplace problems, and making a measurable impact on the future of mental healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.\nRequired Qualifications\n8+ years of related professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems\n\nExperience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technical strategy without direct authority\n\nExperience designing and building backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems (AWS preferred)\n\nExperience partnering effectively with Product and Data to deliver business outcomes\n\nExperience solving complex marketplace, platform, or large-scale operational problems with measurable impact\n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a shared vision.\n\nExperience driving projects end-to-end, from discovery and design through implementation, launch, and post-launch support\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nStart-up experience\n\nExperience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform\n\nExperience with “on-call”, ability to deep dive complex issues and drive them to resolution independently\n\nExperience with NodeJs, Typescript, Kafka\n\nPrevious experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements\n\nWe're serious about your well-being!
