You will combine technical leadership with hands-on design delivery, helping to shape solutions that meet client, regulatory and operational requirements.\nYou will play a key role in developing and approving process designs, providing technical direction to multidisciplinary teams and supporting the successful delivery of projects from design through to commissioning.\nThe Role\nAs Principal Process Engineer, you will take ownership of process engineering activities across a range of projects, providing technical leadership and ensuring consistently high-quality design solutions.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLeading the development of efficient, practical and technically robust process design solutions.\nReviewing and approving design deliverables, technical reports, specifications and Design Risk Assessments (DRAs).\nChecking and approving mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).\nReviewing control philosophies and commissioning strategies.\nProviding technical guidance and oversight across projects.\nSupporting tender submissions, technical proposals and project planning.\nDirecting, mentoring and developing engineers and graduates.\nEnsuring designs comply with relevant technical standards, professional guidance and water company requirements.\nEnsuring design changes are appropriately implemented, controlled and recorded.\nWorking in accordance with formal design processes, procedures and quality requirements.\nEstimating design hours and contributing to project programmes and resource planning.\nAttending and leading HAZOP, ALM, KM and other technical review meetings.\nReviewing and communicating technical standards, procedures and industry updates.\nSupporting the continuous improvement of process engineering standards, tools and practices.\nAbout You\nEssential Experience & Qualifications\n10+ years' process design experience within the regulated water industry.\nExtensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and plant design.\nProven experience delivering process design for water and/or wastewater projects.\nA relevant degree, HND, or significant practical engineering experience gained through progression from technician level.\nStrong IT and digital skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineering and design tools.\nChartered Engineer status.\nDesirable\nExperience across both clean water and wastewater projects.\nExperience participating in or leading HAZOP studies, ideally as Chair.\nExperience supporting tenders, bids and technical proposals.\nA full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.\nRullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3149,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":10,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-28T12:05:59Z"}],"liveness":{"score":52,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.516,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":23,"reasons":["conf:4","agency","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-09-29T00:44:32Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/rullion-principal-process-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/rullion-principal-process-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-29T00:44:32Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":641,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4359,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-30T00:00:00Z"}}}
