Due to increased project workload, we are seeking a skilled inspection professional with strong experience in welding, NDT, quality assurance and construction surveillance within highly regulated engineering environments.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved specifications, quality standards, inspection requirements and regulatory expectations. Working within a multidisciplinary construction team, you will provide technical oversight, conduct surveillance activities, identify quality concerns, and support the delivery of safe, compliant construction works.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct site surveillance and inspection activities to ensure works are completed in accordance with contractual requirements, approved procedures and quality standards.\nVerify mechanical, welding and fabrication activities across construction packages.\nIdentify quality issues, non-conformances and deviations from approved specifications.\nRaise, manage and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) with contractors and project stakeholders.\nMonitor contractor performance against approved Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).\nReview and verify Quality Inspection Records prior to works being covered up or handed over.\nLiaise closely with construction management teams, quality teams and contractors to ensure issues are addressed promptly and effectively.\nSupport project KPIs by providing accurate surveillance and inspection data.\nEnsure all activities are carried out in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.\nMaintain detailed inspection records, reports and site diaries.\nPromote a strong quality and nuclear safety culture across the project.\nEnsure design changes are not implemented in the field without appropriate review, approval and formal change control processes.\nEssential Experience & Qualifications\nMechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience.\nCSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification (essential).\nPCN Level 2 (or equivalent) NDT qualifications. Ideally covering one surface and one volumetric NDT method.\nExtensive weld inspection experience on major construction or engineering projects.\nStrong understanding of fabrication, welding and NDT processes.\nWorking knowledge of British and European engineering standards and construction codes.\nExperience reviewing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans and quality documentation.\nProven ability to work effectively within large construction teams and complex project environments.\nExcellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to produce accurate inspection records and site documentation.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.\nDesirable Qualifications & Experience\nCSWIP 3.2, IWS or equivalent advanced welding qualifications.\nAdditional PCN certifications in areas such as:\nRadiographic Interpretation (RI)\nPenetrant Testing (PT)\nMagnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)\nOther relevant NDT disciplines\nASNT certification will be considered where supported by significant relevant industry experience and knowledge of BS EN standards.\nExperience within nuclear, power generation, energy, heavy engineering or other safety-critical industries.\nKnowledge of RCC-M, BS EN and ASME standards.\nUnderstanding of pressure systems fabrication and installation.\nExperience in quality management systems and quality assurance processes.\nCandidate Profile\nWe are looking for an inspector with a proactive approach to quality assurance and construction surveillance, who can confidently challenge standards where necessary while maintaining positive working relationships with contractors and project teams.
