Come join our team!\nDispatchers are responsible for communicating with drivers to ensure customers are provided prompt service in a safe and efficient manner. This position receives and responds to customer calls regarding service requests and/or issues and inputs information into data base for all lines of business (Residential, Roll-off, and Commercial). Dispatchers ensure routes are complete and assist with resolving customer issues and missed stops. The hours and physical demand may vary by location or line of business.\nResponsibilities of Position:\nEffectively dispatch work orders to drivers via radio or phone to customer sites to provide service to customers, primarily in the commercial line of business\nProvide dispatch coverage for other lines of business during absences and breaks\nReceive incoming calls from customers, customer service, and sales departments, and handle each with appropriate communication and action\nTroubleshoot and resolve service, pick-up and/or delivery issues\nAssist management with the daily activities of route drivers and ensure routes are completed by assigned driver or utility driver\nAssign live loads to drivers based on designated route or driver locations\nDispatch work orders and perform data entry into computer system\nMonitor drivers through Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system entitled GeoTab\nAct as emergency contact for drivers and communicate with maintenance department for driver issues\nManage missed stops by working cooperatively with customer, drivers, and/or office staff to resolve issues\nAssist with assigning and tracking daily work orders to drivers\nEnsure drivers complete paperwork in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy where needed\nMaintain and update route sheets\nAssist with monitoring driver hours in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as needed\nProfessionally interact with internal and external customers\nPerform other duties as assigned\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nThis position will not manage employees\nSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:\nMust possess knowledge of service area, ability to read maps and give directions\nAbility to communicate in a professional manner\nKnowledge of various lines of business preferred\nAbility to handle a heavy call volume in a professional and efficient manner\nMust be organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task\nPossess proven analytical/problem solving solutions for the customer and the company\nComputer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications; AS400 experience, a plus\nMust possess excellent customer service and data entry skills\nExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:\nWaste industry (Roll Off, Residential and Commercial lines of business) experience preferred\n1 year of Administrative Assistance, or similar experience preferred\nPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:\nFrequently lifting/carrying a max of 20 lbs\nOccasionallypushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs\nRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs\nRarelyworking outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions\nRarelyworking in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter\nOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling\nOccasionally climbing and/or balancing\nFrequently sitting/standing\nOccasionally walking\nAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:\nExposure to residential and commercial waste\nAbility to travel between offices, as required\nAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed\nAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays\nLegally eligible to work in the United States\nValid driver’s license (if applicable)\nMust successfully complete pre-employment testing\nMust be able to read and speak the English language\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
