Come join our team!\nThe Driver Trainee position trains side-by-side with the drivers to gain experience. Driver Trainees begin employment in a trainee role, while training to move into a CDL driver role. Driver Trainees are responsible for assisting with servicing assigned route(s)/customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant while learning the skills necessary to advance to a driver role.\nResponsibilities of Position:\nAttend classroom and field training and study independently to obtain required CDL license\nAssist as a helper during training to complete daily routes as needed\nEnter/exit a truck 300-600 times per day to service assigned route\nOperate a truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies in accordance with the methods learned from training\nAssist with providing waste or recycling removal services to customers on route(s) and hauling to disposal sites\nAssist with cleaning up waste spills and overflows\nLearn how to maintain and update route sheets/logs sheets and assist trainer with this function\nLearn how to conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs and assist trainer with this function\nProfessionally interact with internal and external customers\nMaintain cleanliness of assigned truck\nPerform other duties as assigned\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nThis position will not manage employees\nSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:\nAbility to read, comprehend, study for, and pass exams\nAbility to read and understand a map\nAbility to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-600 times per day\nMust posses good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers\nMust be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training\nExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:\nMust be able to obtain a DOT medical card within 10 days of employment\nMust be able to obtain class B CDL permit within 60 days of employment\nMust be able to obtain a class B CDL within 90 days of employment\nPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:\nFrequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs\nContinuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions\nContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter\nFrequentlystooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling\nFrequentlyclimbing and/or balancing\nFrequentlysitting/standing/walking\nAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:\nMust be at least 19 years of age\nNo more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years\nMust not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years\nPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas\nExposure to residential and commercial waste\nAbility to travel between offices, as required\nAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed\nAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays\nLegally eligible to work in the United States\nValid driver’s license (if applicable)\nMust successfully complete pre-employment testing\nMust be able to read and speak the English language\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
