Come join our team!\nVehicle Maintenance Managers are responsible for the management of the vehicle maintenance staff at a facility. This position manages the facility’s maintenance function in order to maintain a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet of vehicles and/or equipment, and an adequate supply of containers. Managers hire, train, coach, evaluate, counsel, and manage the performance of the facility’s maintenance staff with an emphasis on safety and productivity. The hours and physical demands may vary by location.\nResponsibilities of Position:\nManages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance management, discipline, and authorization of overtime.\nRegularly communicates with operations and others regarding the status of fleet vehicles, containers, and/or other equipment.\nControls maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control, and outsourcing of repairs. Works with the controller and participates in the budget process.\nIdentifies trends in road calls, breakdowns, and shop hours and responds appropriately.\nMaintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicle safety and operating efficiency.\nTrains and directs employees to improve their overall performance.\nMonitors and enforces quality and safety standards and ensures all compliance goals are met or exceeded.\nEnsures completion of daily duties and ensures that all productivity goals are met or exceeded.\nPerforms and conducts performance evaluations, monitors and tracks employee attendance, and completes disciplinary actions/meetings.\nMaintains proper records and files, including all compliance.\nConducts investigations for accidents and injuries.\nConducts employee observations to ensure safety and procedures are being followed.\nPrepares and submits/presents accurate and timely reports as needed.\nPerforms other duties as assigned by management.\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nThis position will manage 1 to 10 employees.\nSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:\nKnowledge of OSHA and DOT, preferred.\nComputer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications.\nMust be able to work independently, make decisions, prioritize work, and resolve problems.\nExcellent verbal & written communication skills.\nMaintains a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, employees, and managers.\nExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:\n3 - 5 years of previous management experience.\n3 - 5 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and related components preferred. \nExperience with maintaining parts inventory.\nFamiliarity with the use of repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics is necessary to troubleshoot.\nAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:\nPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.\nExposure to residential and commercial waste.\nAbility to travel between offices, as required.\nAbility to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.\nAbility to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.\nMust be available for 24-hour emergency calls.\nLegally eligible to work in the United States.\nValid driver’s license (if applicable).\nMust successfully complete pre-employment testing.\nMust be able to read and speak the English language.\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and/or skills required.
