Come join our team!\nWeld Shop Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the welding repairs/maintenance of containers and/or the vehicle fleet. Weld Shop Supervisors hire, train, coach, evaluate, counsel, and manage the performance of the welders and other staff with an emphasis on safety and productivity.\nResponsibilities of Position:\nOversee and manage the daily activities and performance of weld shop employees\nManage the welding staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance management, discipline, and authorization of overtime\nEnsure all safety and compliance standards are met or exceeded\nEnsure proper PPE is utilized by employees and compliance with Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures is adhered to consistently\nAct as a hands-on Supervisor, ensuring oversight of the assigned shift\nEnsure the daily housekeeping plan is followed and that all areas are cleaned effectively\nMaintain proper records and files including all compliance and personnel records\nMaintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management\nConduct employee observations to ensure safety procedures and other protocols are being followed\nPerform sanding, grinding, cutting, welding, and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies\nMaintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company, ANSI, and OSHA standards\nComplete required paperwork utilizing a computer system\nUtilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment\nPerform other duties as assigned\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nThis position will manage 1-20 employees\nThis position will not oversee and direct other managers\nSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:\nAbility to lead and develop subordinate employees\nAttention to detail and ability to track and maintain documentation\nProficient in the use and interpretation of installation diagrams and troubleshooting manuals\nGood written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers\nBasic computer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications and SAP a plus\nExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:\nPrevious experience and knowledge of MIG/ARC and stick welding\nMinimum 3-5 years welding and cutting experience\nPrevious management experience preferred\nKnowledge of small shop tools\nPhysical Requirements in a Regular workday:\nContinuously lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 10 lbs\nFrequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs\nOccasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs\nRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs\nFrequently working outside continuously in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions\nContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter\nOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling\nOccasionally climbing and/or balancing\nOccasionally sitting; frequently standing/walking\nAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:\nPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas\nExposure to residential and commercial waste\nAbility to travel between offices, as required\nAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed\nAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays\nMust be available for 24-hour emergency calls\nLegally eligible to work in the United States\nValid driver’s license (if applicable)\nMust successfully complete pre-employment testing\nMust be able to read and speak the English language\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
