Our team is made up of builders, sellers, and industry veterans with a shared goal: to bring modern technology to an overlooked industry.\nAbout the role\nYou’ll be based out of our Redwood City office and work in person with the rest of our engineering team. As a Software Engineer, you’ll ship features end-to-end across our stack: a Go backend, a TypeScript/React web app, and React Native mobile apps. Your work goes directly to the supply-store owners and staff who run their businesses on Rundoo every day.\nYou’ll report to one of our engineering leads and work in a small pod of about 4-5 engineers. You’ll own clearly-scoped projects from start to rollout, get deep in the part of the product your pod owns, and build your system and product intuition with mentorship from senior engineers through pairing and code review. It’s a good fit for someone 1-3 years into their career.\nWhat you’ll do as a Software Engineer at Rundoo\nShip features end-to-end, from the proto and backend logic to the web and mobile UI\n\nOwn small, clearly-scoped projects (typically 1-3 weeks) with limited direction, from scoping through rollout\n\nGo deep in your pod’s part of the product so you can fix arbitrary bugs and add new features with confidence\n\nAlign with PM and tech lead on what you’re building and why, and write tickets clear enough for another engineer to pick up\n\nTalk to clients directly, calling stores to research how they work and to get their feedback on what you’ve shipped\n\nWrite design docs for your features and reason about how your work interacts with adjacent systems\n\nReview teammates’ code and act on the feedback you get, keeping our codebase readable and maintainable\n\nSpot broken team processes and fix them, automating manual work where it speeds up delivery\n\nRequirements\n1-3 years of professional software engineering experience\n\nSolid command of computer-science fundamentals and fluency in at least one production language\n\nComfort shipping features end-to-end and debugging across the stack\n\nBased in (or willing to relocate to) the Bay Area and able to work in person 4 days a week in our Redwood City office\n\nBonus points\nExperience with Go, TypeScript/React, or React Native\n\nExperience at an early-stage startup, or another fast-moving environment\n\nFamiliarity with ERP, POS, payments, or other system-of-record software\n\nInterview Process\nIntro Call - Meet a recruiter to learn more about each other (20 mins, remote)\n\nLive coding screen with Andrew (45 mins, remote)\n\nTake Home Assignment\n\nOnsite - A mix of technical and culture interviews with the team (~4 hours, in person)\n\nMeet some of the team\nGeorge - Studied computer science and math at Stanford; worked a couple internships at Meta + some startups in Denver; jaywalking ticket recipient\n\nSanti - Studied CE and played varsity soccer at Waterloo: internships at Replicant and other Canadian startups\n\nVidya - Studied Computer Science at UC Berkeley; worked at Ironclad for 5 years as a Software Engineer and Engineering Manager; south Indian classical dancer\n\nUmer - CS at NUS; interned at Visa and a couple of startups in Singapore.
