As a Wind Farm Technician Associate, you support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and related renewable energy facilities to help ensure safety, reliability, and maximum asset availability in alignment with the Operations mission. This is an intermediate entry level position designed to further develop foundational technical, safety, and operational skills.

Working with experienced technicians, the Associate assists with the safe execution of scheduled maintenance, basic troubleshooting, repairs, training activities, and safety exercises. Maintains accountability for plant tools, equipment, and vehicle readiness, ensuring availability for planned work. Observes and helps document service activities through the digital maintenance management system; and works alongside the O&M team to maintain a strong safety culture, teamwork, and work ethic across the site.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support safe execution of all operations and maintenance activities in accordance with site-specific policies, procedures, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements
• Demonstrate proactive safety behavior, including consistently reporting potential hazards and helping implement safety protocols
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of renewable energy systems (including Solar, Wind, and BESS) and associated Balance of Plant (BoP) equipment such as substations and collection systems
• Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and data collection to monitor system performance and ensure proper functionality
• Support senior technicians in diagnosing and resolving technical issues
• Maintain accurate and complete records and documentation of maintenance activities and project tasks
• Collaborate with team members to contribute to project goals, including providing basic technical input to support maintenance planning and scheduling and helping other sites as directed
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance technical skills and knowledge of renewable energy technologies, staying updated on industry trends
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Seek clarification, provide feedback, and ask questions to further understanding and support skill development
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management and consistent with the role
• Serve in an on-call capacity as assigned, maintaining continuous availability via mobile phone, responding to management or dispatch communications within 30 minutes, reporting to the work site within 2 hours when required, and remaining fit for duty at all times during on-call period

Job Requirements and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certificate or associate degree in renewable energy technology or related field preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience in renewable energy installations or maintenance preferred
• (Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex) Wind Turbine experience preferred
• Work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission and/or distribution
• 2 year or 4 year college degree from an accredited school (other than correspondence or on-line) in a technical science like engineering, physics, power, or closely similar
• Participation in ongoing professional development and industry-specific training is beneficial
• Renewable Energy Program Certificate
• Must live within 1 hour drive time to site.
• Unrestricted driver’s license
• Knowledge of and strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and hazard mitigation
• Ability to follow standard work instructions, apply concepts learned in training under minimal supervision, and perform energy isolation during maintenance
• Skilled in basic rigging, signaling, troubleshooting, and repair of electromechanical systems; proficient with hand and power tools
• Able to interpret moderately complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings for installations and troubleshooting
• Intermediate understanding of electromechanical relays, hydraulic accumulators, linear transducers, electrical motors, and foundational knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC converters, and computer network communication protocols
• Proficient in intermediate PC/laptop skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams, with ability to prepare and use documents and spreadsheets
• Strong problem-solving abilities; able to handle moderately complex tasks and diagnostics, seek solutions for technical challenges, and escalate complex issues as needed
• Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation
• Demonstrates effective communication skills, values teamwork, builds relationships, and can communicate technical root causes clearly
• Willingness to be cross-trained in wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) operations, and to travel to these sites on occasion as required
• Capable of mentoring and assisting with the training of new staff or trainees within renewable energy projects
• Motivated self-starter, able to work independently on routine tasks with periodic supervision, escalating complex issues as needed
• Strong commitment to safety, continuously identifying and mitigating site-specific safety and environmental hazards for self and others

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to maintain a body weight of 270 pounds or less to safely perform tower climbing and job-related duties
• Ability to safely climb wind turbine towers daily, including working in confined, elevated, and swaying environments, and walk across small surface areas within wind turbines (weight limit: 270 lbs)
• Capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting tools and equipment up to 50 lbs, and standing, walking, or climbing for extended periods in extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, wind, sun)

Work Environment:

The work environment includes a variety of settings such as offices, warehouses, and wind farm site locations. Responsibilities involve working in and around energized wind turbine generators and balance of plant equipment (including substations and pad mount transformers), with tasks performed both inside turbines and outdoors in all weather conditions and changing environments, including unstable conditions
