You will play an important role in designing and maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure while working closely with development and product teams.\nWe value engineers who:\nUnderstand the technology they operate rather than treating infrastructure as a black box.\nCan troubleshoot systematically across application, container, operating system, network and cloud layers.\nPrefer automation over repetitive manual work.\nWrite infrastructure code and tooling that other engineers can safely reuse.\nThink about failure modes before they become production incidents.\nTake ownership of problems from investigation through to resolution.\nCan explain technical decisions and their trade-offs.\nCare about reliability, security, maintainability and operational excellence.\nThe role provides an opportunity to work across cloud, operating systems, networking, containerisation, and automation layers, troubleshooting complex production issues and continuously improving the reliability and maintainability of our environments.\nTechnology Stack\nAWS: EC2, ECS, ECR, S3, CloudFront, ALB, VPC, Transit Gateway, IAM, routing, NAT and security groups.Infrastructure & Automation: Terraform, Ansible, Python and Git-based infrastructure workflows.Systems & Networking: Debian/Ubuntu Linux, Docker, nginx, StrongSwan/IPSec, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT and firewalls.\nJob Overview\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, deploy, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform.\nDevelop and maintain reusable, internally owned Terraform modules and infrastructure patterns.\nManage and troubleshoot Linux-based production systems.\nBuild and operate containerised workloads using Docker and AWS ECS.\nManage Docker images and registries using Amazon ECR.\nDesign and troubleshoot AWS networking, including VPCs, routing, ALBs, Transit Gateway, NAT, security groups and IAM.\nConfigure and troubleshoot IPSec VPN connections, including StrongSwan-based deployments.\nConfigure and maintain nginx-based services and reverse proxies.\nAutomate infrastructure configuration and operational tasks using Ansible and Python.\nInvestigate production incidents across application, operating system, networking, container and cloud infrastructure layers.\nImprove infrastructure reliability, security, observability, performance and maintainability.\nContribute to CI/CD and Git-based infrastructure and deployment workflows.\nReview infrastructure changes and contribute to technical design decisions.\nReduce manual operations through automation and better tooling.\nDocument infrastructure architecture, operational procedures and reusable solutions.\nSupport operational issues and BAU activities across the platform.\nRequirements:\nStrong hands-on experience with Terraform, including modules, state, providers, dependencies, lifecycle and infrastructure design.\nHands-on experience with AWS, particularly EC2, ECS, ECR, S3, CloudFront, ALB, VPC networking and IAM.\nStrong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, preferably Debian/Ubuntu.\nGood understanding of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, NAT, firewalls and VPN concepts.\nPractical experience with Docker and containerised applications.\nExperience configuring and troubleshooting nginx.\nExperience with Ansible and infrastructure automation.\nAbility to write automation and operational tooling using Python.\nExperience troubleshooting real production environments across multiple infrastructure layers.\nGood understanding of Git-based development and infrastructure workflows.\nHighly Valuable:\nAWS Transit Gateway and multi-VPC or multi-account network architectures.\nIPSec VPNs / StrongSwan.\nDesigning reusable Terraform modules for multiple environments or teams.\nProduction experience with AWS ECS.\nAWS security and IAM design.\nNetwork troubleshooting using tools such as tcpdump, ss, dig, curl, openssl and traceroute.\nDesigning highly available and resilient cloud infrastructure.\nExperience with CI/CD, monitoring, observability and incident response.\nExperience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch or similar technologies.\nLife at RWS\nLife at RWS- If you like the idea of working with smart people who are passionate about growing the value of ideas, data and content by making sure organizations are understood, then you’ll love life at RWS.\nOur purpose is to unlock global understanding.
