This role goes beyond routine close execution and requires strong judgment, technical rigor, and ownership of complex reconciliations and analyses. The Senior Accountant works in a fast-paced public company environment, partnering closely with cross-functional teams and auditors, and is expected to deliver precise, high-quality results under tight reporting deadlines while supporting a strong SOX control framework.\nRequirements\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerform various month-end close activities in the areas of AP and related accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, investment accounts & operating expenses \nPrepare monthly flux/variance analysis, analyzing trends across a variety of departments and accounts. Recommend journal entries to adjust for reclasses, missed accruals & incorrectly posted items\nPartner with AP team to ensure invoices are posted accurately, and coordinate month end accruals by utilizing our integrated AP software\nBook monthly investment accounting entries from the Clearwater platform and provide reports to SEC team for 10-K/10-Q disclosures\nEnsure proper amortization of prepaid expenses including insurance, patent annuities and software licenses\nPrepare and post consolidation-related journal entries and supporting schedules as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process\nPerform monthly sales tax reconciliations between Avalara and GL, investigating and resolving variances, validating tax liability balances, and supporting timely and accurate sales tax filings.\nBank reconciliations for US and OUS entities\nFixed Asset journal entries, & roll forward, corresponding with asset owners for asset status & year-end impairment testing\nPartnering with the procurement team to generate supplier spend reports and various other analyses\nContinuous process improvement to streamline the month end close, reconciliations and operational processes\nVarious balance sheet reconciliations for areas of responsibility\nSupport the annual external audit and provide documentation to satisfy audit requests\nSetup of customer and supplier master records in QAD\nOther duties as assigned\nREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:\nAdvanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)\nSolid understanding of U.S. GAAP\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute average, ratios, percent.\nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
