This role is responsible for developing accurate and timely project estimates-both independently and collaboratively-while actively managing scope and supporting budget objectives across the project team.\nKey to success is the ability to build and review cost estimates, perform detailed quantity take-offs, and deliver value analysis that drives cost efficiency. Candidates must also leverage historical project cost data and provide expert preconstruction guidance to project management teams.\nThis position requires close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including owners, clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, developers, and internal teams such as marketing and construction management. The role reports to the Senior Preconstruction Manager or Director of Preconstruction and partners closely with project managers throughout the lifecycle of each project.\nSome things you can expect to do:\nWork with project managers to develop conceptual and detailed estimates.\n\nPerform quantity take-offs of all construction systems\n\nCreate project estimates individually and with a team\n\nSolicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bid proposals\n\nScope and select subcontractors based on best value and project requirements\n\nRecord final estimates and maintain cost history\n\nCreate, track, and manage project scope\n\nParticipate and review buyout and GMP estimates\n\nCreate preconstruction schedules with project management and field personal\n\nSupport the development, architectural, and construction team with preconstruction expertise including value design, costs, project schedule, procurement, and project pursuits\n\nTrain Cost Engineers and Project Management staff\n\nConsistently achieves customer satisfaction and Raving Fan goals\n\nReview and provide feedback on project estimates created by the project managers. Provide direction for understanding project scope, market pricing, and available resources\n\nAssist clients and developers with conceptual budgets of types. Capable of cost modeling using Uniformat II system costs\n\nYou will really do stand out if:\n4 year engineering, architectural or management degree required.\n\n4-6 years commercial construction experience.\n\nKnowledge of construction means and methods and able to read and understand project plans.\n\nProficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.\n\nBe able to perform thoughtful and accurate quantity take offs, and summarize data in a meaningful way.\n\nKnowledgeable in Microsoft Excel.
