This role combines hands-on accounting work with people leadership, providing oversight of branch-level financials while managing and developing a team of accounting staff. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment and is comfortable both directing team priorities and rolling up their sleeves to assist with day-to-day accounting tasks.\nKey Responsibilities\nBranch Financial Oversight\nReview and analyze financial results for multiple branch locations, identifying trends, variances, and areas of concern\nEnsure consistency and accuracy of financial reporting across branches\nPartner with branch and operations leadership to explain financial performance and support decision-making\nMonitor internal controls across locations and recommend improvements as needed\nTeam Leadership\nSupervise, mentor, and develop several accounting employees\nAssign and prioritize workload across the team, ensuring deadlines are met\nProvide training and guidance on accounting policies, procedures, and systems\nConduct performance reviews and support employee growth and development\nAccounting Operations & Support\nAssist the accounting team as needed with:\n* State sales/use tax return preparation\n* Bank reconciliations\n* Fixed asset management (additions, disposals, depreciation schedules)\n* Financial analysis and reporting\n* Month-end and year-end close processes\n* Other accounting tasks and special projects as assigned\nProcess Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes across branches\nSupport the implementation of new tools, reports, or workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy\nBring forward-thinking, innovative solutions to recurring challenges\nRequirements\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior supervisory or management experience preferred\nMulti-location/multi-entity accounting experience strongly preferred\nStrong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles\nExperience with fixed asset accounting, bank reconciliations, and financial analysis\nProficiency with accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus) and advanced Excel skills\nCPA or CPA candidate a plus, but not required\nDesired Attributes\nTeam player - works collaboratively across departments and locations\nHard-working and self-motivated - takes ownership without needing constant direction\nInnovative and forward-thinking - brings new ideas and process improvements to the table\nStrong problem-solver - diagnoses issues quickly and drives them to resolution\nGo-getter - proactive, takes initiative, and follows through\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences\nHighly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple branches\nWork Environment\nPrimarily office-based, with occasional travel to branch locations as needed\nStandard business hours, with flexibility required during month-end/quarter-end/year-end close periods\n**This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the position and is not an exhaustive list of duties, responsibilities, or qualifications.\nWhy work at Ryan?\nIn addition to being a non-smoking company with real advancement opportunities, we offer:\nFull-time, year-round employment with starting compensation of $70,000 - $85,000 depending on experience, plus bonus opportunities\nExcellent benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance\n100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)\n401(k) with company match\n11 paid holidays plus 1 floating personal holiday\n17 Paid Time Off (PTO) Days\nRyan Lawn & Tree is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
