As a Small Engine Mechanic II at our Maisch Small Engine shop, you’ll take on the tough jobs, from internal engine work and carburetor rebuilds to fuel injection, electrical, hydraulic, and drivetrain repairs, while managing your own work queue with minimal supervision. You’ll also serve as a go-to technical resource for our newer mechanics, sharing what you know and helping build a strong team.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDiagnose and repair a full range of small engine issues, including upper and lower end engine work, fuel injection, carburetors, fuel systems, electrical and ignition, hydraulics, and drivetrains\nManage and prioritize your own work queue to meet service turnaround commitments\nComplete detailed service documentation, including diagnosis notes, parts ordered, and labor time\nMentor and guide Small Engine Mechanic I technicians, including reviewing their findings\nMake sure all work meets quality and safety standards before equipment goes back into service\nSpot recurring failure patterns and parts trends, and share recommendations with leadership\nPartner with the Service Writer to explain findings and repair options and keep customers informed\nRequirements\nWhat You Bring\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred\n2-3 years of hands-on small engine repair experience in a professional setting\nProven ability to independently diagnose and repair small engine systems\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize your own workload\nWillingness to mentor and support less experienced technicians\nComfort using a computer or tablet for work orders, repair notes, time tracking, and parts lookup\nValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record\nManufacturer certifications (STIHL, Honda, Husqvarna, etc.), experience with computerized diagnostics or service software, and flat-rate or production shop experience are a plus\n** SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of vehicles and equipment.
