This role is ideal for an insurance professional with strong casualty expertise who enjoys working closely with retail agents, underwriters, and internal brokers to deliver creative placement solutions and exceptional service.The successful candidate will serve as a technical casualty resource, evaluating submissions, identifying exposures, marketing accounts, negotiating terms, and driving placements from submission through binding. This individual should be highly organized, relationship-oriented, and comfortable exercising independent judgment when evaluating risk and carrier fit.\nThis is a fast-paced role requiring strong coverage knowledge, attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering a high level of service to both retail partners and carrier markets.\nWhat will your job entail?\nRisk Evaluation & Market Placement\nReview and evaluate casualty submissions to identify key exposures, coverage needs, and placement opportunities.\nAnalyze risks and develop effective marketing strategies to secure competitive coverage solutions.\nDetermine appropriate carrier and wholesale market options based on risk characteristics, underwriting appetite, and client needs.\nPrepare and market submissions to carriers, ensuring complete and accurate information is presented.\nNegotiate pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage enhancements with carrier partners.\nPresent and explain coverage options, exclusions, and recommendations to retail brokers and internal stakeholders.\nBroker & Carrier Relationship Management\nServe as a trusted resource to retail agents, providing technical guidance and market insight throughout the placement process.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with carrier underwriters and key market partners.\nAct as a liaison between retail brokers and insurance markets to ensure timely communication and issue resolution.\nCollaborate closely with producers, brokers, and support staff to ensure a seamless client experience.\nAccount Management & Execution\nManage opportunities from submission through quote, binding, and policy issuance.\nEnsure all documentation, correspondence, and transaction details are accurately maintained within agency management systems.\nCoordinate follow-up activities with carriers and brokers to maintain momentum and achieve service expectations.\nAssist with renewals, remarketing efforts, and account retention strategies.\nTechnical Expertise & Business Growth\nMaintain strong knowledge of casualty products, market trends, underwriting appetite, and carrier capabilities.\nIdentify opportunities to improve coverage placement, grow relationships, and expand existing business.\nProvide guidance and mentorship to junior team members when appropriate.\nParticipate in continuing education, licensing, and professional development activities.\nQualifications\nRequired\n5+ years of wholesale brokerage, underwriting, or commercial casualty insurance experience.\nStrong knowledge of casualty coverages, including General Liability, Excess Liability/Umbrella, Products Liability, and other complex casualty risks.\nExperience marketing accounts and negotiating directly with underwriters and carrier partners.\nAbility to independently analyze risks and make sound placement recommendations.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.\nSelf-motivated and able to work effectively in a remote environment.\nState Property & Casualty License and/or Surplus Lines License.\nPreferred\nWholesale brokerage experience within E&S or specialty casualty markets.\nExperience handling middle-market or complex casualty placements.\nEstablished carrier relationships within casualty markets.\nBachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field.\nProfessional designations such as CPCU, CIC, ARM, or CRIS.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nServes as a go-to casualty expert for retail brokers and internal partners.\nConsistently delivers creative and competitive placement solutions.\nBuilds strong carrier relationships that help drive favorable outcomes for clients.\nManages accounts proactively and efficiently with minimal oversight.\nMaintains a high level of accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism.\nContributes to team growth through technical expertise, collaboration, and exceptional service.\nRyan Specialty is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
