Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations II, this role is responsible for all shift-level operations including technician management, workflow coordination, quality, safety, asset maintenance, and customer relationship management. The ideal candidate is outgoing, comfortable working directly with customers, and driven to set the pace on the shop floor. This role may also serve as a development position to prepare incumbents for an Operations Manager role.\nSchedule & Compensation\nSchedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-9:00 PM (10-hour shifts)\nBase Salary: $75,000-$78,000 annually\nYour Team\nYou will manage the following direct reports on your shift:\n3 Technicians\n1 Service Employee (SE)\nEssential Functions\nWorkflow Management\nLead work analysis, planning, scheduling, and technician assignments across the shift\nConduct shift and shop meetings; review and approve Repair Orders (ROs)\nTriage unscheduled customer drive-ins; communicate vehicle status and work assignments\nConduct regular yard checks to ensure proper work scheduling and prioritization\nEnsure all warranty policies and procedures are executed correctly\nLabor Management\nProvide day-to-day leadership, training, and development to all assigned personnel\nConduct performance management processes for all direct reports\nSupport cross-functional coverage and backup needs within the shop\nCustomer Management\nManage customer relationships, including issue resolution, satisfaction, and vehicle uptime\nExecute PM scheduling communications, breakdown updates, and vehicle status follow-up\nConduct customer visits as required by the Customer Care Plan\nAsset Management\nDirect team in maintaining location appearance and 6S standards across all relevant shop areas\nEvaluate and recommend tooling and equipment requirements\nAssist in managing vehicle specifications and the vehicle in-service/out-service process\nEnsure all vehicles have required specifications in SAM\nManage parts inventory in accordance with policies and procedures\nQuality Management\nPerform quality inspections on PMs and repairs; conduct In Process Reviews of non-PM work\nPerform breakdown root cause analysis and implement corrective actions; escalate to Technical Assistance Center as needed\nEnsure cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehicles\nWork with the Service Manager to ensure technicians are properly trained and TOPS plan is prioritized based on breakdown, rework, and running cost trends\nMaintain control and visibility over shop floor activities to ensure proper root cause diagnosis and optimize parts/component yield\nSupport development and implementation of Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs\nMaintain all required documentation to meet local, state, federal, and customer requirements\nEnsure employee compliance with all Safety and EPA regulations\nFinancial Management\nEnsure the shift delivers against Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives without sacrificing quality, safety, or customer satisfaction\nManage cost controls related to the maintenance operations budget and location P&L\nExecute maintenance initiatives to attain or exceed specified financial targets\nOversee payroll, purchase order approval, invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation\nManage the customer bill-back process, including identification, review, and approval of bill-back opportunities\nEnsure proper documentation and reporting of re-billable activity\nMaintain data integrity in the Shop Management Online system\nQualifications\nRequired\nHigh school diploma or GED\n1-3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted for this requirement\nMaintenance and technical experience in a shop environment\nOutgoing and comfortable communicating with customers; ability to interact professionally with both internal teams and customer management\nHighly driven, with the ability to set and push the pace across multiple operational priorities\nWorking knowledge of vehicle maintenance operations and shop workflows\nPreferred\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree\nSupervisory or lead experience\nTechnical background, including vehicle diagnostics and repair knowledge\nExperience with a Shop Management System (Shop Management Online, SAM, or comparable)\nIntermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office\nAdditional Information\nInterviews will be conducted in person with the hiring manager at the Page Service Dr location or another Ryder location, depending on the hiring manager’s schedule that week.\nThis role can serve as a development path toward the Operations Manager position.\nQualifications\nH.S. diploma/GED required\nAssociate's degree preferred or 1-3 years or more experience in a maintenance operations environment required.
