It has major operations all over the world and is part of the domestic defence capability of several nations.\nThe Role:\nFollowing planned expansion, Saab is looking to recruit a customer-focused field support technician responsible for the service, installation, repair, and general maintenance of the Giraffe 1X multi-mission radar, as well as other radars in Saab’s portfolio. This is an important role, and will require building relationships with the in-country operators, as well as with Saab Engineering Teams.\nIn this position, you will work with a range of technologies including radar systems, software loading/programming, high-power components (AC and DC), electronics, hydraulics, cooling systems, and interfaces with both Saab and other Command and Control systems. The ability and willingness to travel, including internationally and to areas of very high risk will be essential for this role.\nThe successful candidate will have the potential to progress within the business; they will also benefit from continuous training across the different sectors of the business and sensors.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSupport customers on-site, both domestically and internationally in field and operational environments to enable initial radar system fielding; this includes conducting preventative and corrective maintenance.\nAdditional tasks will include manning customer support desks, training end users, and assisting with production at the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).\nSupport to trials, exercises, deployments globally in support of military operations, and other company market growth initiatives.\nSystem integration and verification, and support to configuration management.\nReporting and administering the running of projects and training events as required\nQualifications and Experience:\nEssential:\nThe ability to understand complex systems of systems - ideally this would be extensive knowledge of either a radar, electronic warfare, command and control, or sophisticated military electronic systems. \nA willingness to deploy at short notice to areas of very high risk.\nAbility to meet the physical requirements of, and pass the medical examinations associated with, Deployment Ready Training. \nExperience in a technical customer-facing environment demonstrating fault-finding and problem-solving abilities in a high-pressure environment\nFull UK driving licence\nComputer literate\nAble to obtain UK Security Clearance up to SC\nUK or Swedish citizenship\nDesirable:\nQualified to a minimum of ONC/HNC level or equivalent in a technical area\nMulti-skilled electrical bias\nPrevious military experience is highly desired to support the initial fielding of the systems with customers. \nTeaching/ instructional experience, including in practical scenarios, on military systems.\nBe a motivated and critical-thinking individual\nBe capable of working independently and managing their own workload\nHave excellent interpersonal skills\nBe comfortable in a complex customer-facing environment\nThrive in big groups and maintain a large professional network\nBe perceptive, flexible, and act with integrity, always keeping Saab’s best interests in mind\nHave a genuine interest in technology and the ability to adapt styles to suit a varied audience\nAs a National Security Vetting clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or have the ability to gain it.\nBy submitting an application to Saab UK you consent to undertaking workforce screening activities that may include but are not limited to: Baseline Personnel Security checks, National Security Vetting, reference checks, verification of working rights and in all circumstances preferred candidates will be placed through a security interview.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4815,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Combat Aircraft","Naval Systems","Missiles","C4ISR"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-11-03T15:27:37Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"adverts_offering_sponsorship_24m":0,"sanctioned_now":false,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker, Senior or Specialist Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker;
