The Mission Planning Engineer supports the integration, certification, sustainment, and operational use of mission planning systems across Naval Aviation platforms. (see onsite requirements below)\n**On-site Requirements: This position requires the ability to work onsite at Patuxent River, MD 60%+ of the time.\nEssential Functions:\nMission Planning Systems Engineering\nSupport integration, sustainment, testing, and evaluation of mission planning systems across multiple platforms\nAssist with lifecycle support from development through operational use\nSoftware Integration & Evaluation\nEvaluate mission planning software functionality, interfaces, and compatibility\nAssess operational suitability and system performance\nCertification & Compliance Support\nSupport certification efforts for mission planning systems and mission data loading capabilities\nContribute to verification, validation, and compliance documentation\nOperational Support\nInterface with fleet users and platform teams to identify requirements and resolve mission planning issues\nSupport mission planning workflows and operational execution needs\nMission Data Management\nSupport mission data loading processes, configuration management, and data distribution\nAssist with mission planning workflows and system configuration control\nCoordination & Collaboration\nCoordinate with Data Integrity, Navigation, Surveillance, and Communications engineers\nInterface with PMAs, software vendors, and platform stakeholders\nOther duties as assigned or required\nRequirements\nRequired:\nExperience with mission planning systems, including:\nJMPS, VMPS, NOMS, or similar mission planning applications\nMission data loaders and mission planning workflows\nKnowledge of:\nSystems engineering principles and software integration\nVerification & validation, test & evaluation, and configuration management\nRequirements management processes\nUnderstanding of:\nAviation mission planning processes and flight planning concepts\nAirspace operations and military aviation mission execution\nAbility to support cross-functional coordination across engineering disciplines and stakeholders\nDesired:\nExperience supporting Naval Aviation or DoD aviation programs\nFamiliarity with mission planning system certification processes\nExperience working with operational fleet users or aviation platform teams\nKnowledge of data integrity, navigation, surveillance, or communications systems integration\nExperience with mission planning system upgrades, modernization, or software development environments\nEducation/Years of Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field and at least4 years mission planning and domain experience\nSecurity Clearance:\nActive Secret clearance required.
