Are you ready to join a team that dreams as big as you do?\nThe Key Purpose of this role is to operate the pre-steeping, steeping, germination, kilning, effluent areas and associated process areas, the execution of quality control checks and analyses, including coaching of other team members and supporting the maintenance department in carrying out asset care activities.\nKey Roles and Responsibilities:\nShift Based Production Performance and Processes\nInterpret and implement production plan for shift.\nMonitor production processes on shift.\nEnsure process quality and productivity.\nEnsure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.\nCo-ordinate autonomous operations and cleaning.\nShift Team Performance\nCommunicate effectively in the workplace.\nPerform Administration\nEnsure application of administration systems and procedures.\nContribute to self and team development.\nProblem Solving\nApply problem solving and decision-making techniques and principles.\nOperating And Process Control\nOperating equipment in Malting process areas according to standard operating procedures.\nConstantly reviewing process performance against target and recording and understanding reasons for down time.\nRecording waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information systems and reviewing waste trends to identify problems.\nMaintenance Of Plant and Equipment\nCarrying out in-depth cleaning, lubrication and inspection of equipment according to autonomous operations and in accordance with the maintenance schedule.\nIdentify defective plant and report these through to Team Leader for resolution.\nAssisting the Standby Artisan in executing running repairs on shift.\nQuality Control and Analysis\nCarrying out the required quality checks and analyses, and recording the results on the appropriate information system.\nThe list of quality checks to be executed is contained in the work instructions / SOPs.\nCommunication\nActively participate in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions. making use of the action log to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.\nFully understand the team goals and participate in team goal review sessions.\nMake use of relevant communication media (e.g. operator workstations/team rooms) to stay informed and inform others of issues.\nComplete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality and maintenance are communicated.\nProblem Solving\nWhere problems occur, use 5Y's and quick fix routines to identify the possible origin and report these to Team leader for resolution.\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify sources of waste and report these to the Team Leader.\nKey Attributes and Competencies:\nThe main role is to apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.\nSupportive role is to attempt to develop others in own skills as well as the learning of the skills of another specialist at Maltings.\nA logical, analytical problem solver who can operate in an unstructured environment.\nA team player (prepared to communicate, listen and assist).\nInitiative and energetic.\nAchievement Drive (improvement, do better than standard or what was done previously, be the best).\nMinimum Requirements:\nMatric or equivalent (NQF Level 4).\nRelevant Diploma in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field.\nMinimum 3 months on-the-job training.\n2 to 5 years' experience in a malting environment.\nPrevious experience in a process-controlled manufacturing environment, ideally within food FMCG production.\nAdditional information:\n Band: XI\nSAB is an equal opportunity employer, and all appointments will be made in-line with SAB employment equity plan and talent requirements.
