The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the SABC’s internal communications, internal events, and internal brand experience to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned to the organisation’s vision, mission, values, and corporate strategy. The role is responsible for fostering a strong internal culture, building employee engagement, and embedding the SABC brand internally through strategic communication, impactful events, and close collaboration with marketing teams, HR and other divisions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGY AND BUSINESS PLANS
- Develop and implement the integrated Internal Communications, Events, and Internal Brand strategy.
- Ensure strategic and consistent messaging across all internal platforms and channels.
BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND COST MANAGEMENT
- Lead the planning and execution of internal events (e.g., townhalls, recognition events, employee engagement sessions).
- Champion the internal SABC brand experience by aligning messaging, staff engagement, and culture-building initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing, HR and other divisions to strengthen organisational culture and employee engagement
GOVERNANCE RISK AND COMPLIANCE
- Monitor and report on the operational risk and compliance matters.
- Implement internal control measures to ensure good governance.
- Manage financial risks to protect organisational integrity, create value, prevent financial loss and ensure compliance with applicable policies and legislations.
CUSTOMER AND STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Establish and maintain relationships with various internal stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the corporation’s key messages and internal brand events.
- Support SABC sub brands with internal brand activations and campaigns.
- Support divisional campaigns.
- Create good relationships with key internal business decision makers.
- Champion the business partner relationship constantly seeking out ways of adding further value to the business through collaboration and appreciation of the business priorities.
- Creating value in employee focused campaigns and focusing on the total internal brand experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A National Diploma/Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years’ experience in corporate communications, with 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in the broadcasting or media sector will be an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Proven expertise in internal communications, employee engagement, and/or event management.
- Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and governance frameworks will be advantageous.
