As part of a newly created team in Kraków, it delivers foundational microservices, APIs and data flows that power core retailing and fulfillment workflows. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and architects, you will build, test and maintain production-quality software while expanding your technical skills across distributed systems. You will work on well-defined engineering assignments, gradually increasing your ownership as you build deeper platform and domain expertise. This role requires strong engineering discipline, natural curiosity, clear communication and a drive to build scalable software.\nWhat You'll Do\nBackend Engineering: Develop, test and maintain backend services using Java and modern JDK features following established engineering practices.\nAPI Development: Build, extend and document RESTful APIs based on defined contracts, technical designs and error-handling standards.\nMicroservices Architecture: Contribute to microservice architectures, focusing on service logic, configuration, communication patterns and deployment readiness.\nCloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud-native technologies within Google Cloud Platform, including containerized services, managed cloud components, logging and deployment pipelines.\nEvent-Driven Systems: Implement and maintain messaging and event-driven components using queues, event streams and asynchronous processing.\nData Persistence: Develop database access logic and write SQL queries across relational and NoSQL databases to support data consistency and performance.\nTesting & Quality: Write unit, integration and component tests, fix defects and actively participate in code reviews to maintain high quality.\nSupport & Debugging: Support investigation and debugging of production and integration issues using logs, monitoring tools, API traces and database queries, with guidance from senior team members when needed.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across senior engineers, QA, Product, Architecture, SRE and Delivery teams to clarify requirements and deliver technical assignments.\nContributor Expectations\nDeliver: Deliver assigned engineering tasks reliably with guidance from senior team members.\nFollow Standards: Follow established architecture, coding standards, testing practices and delivery processes.\nCommunicate: Communicate progress, risks and blockers clearly.\nAsk Early: Ask questions early when requirements, designs or technical expectations are unclear.\nGrow Ownership: Gradually build broader platform, domain and operational ownership over time.\nWhat You'll Bring\nRequired Qualifications\nPractical experience in Java backend development with a solid understanding of core JDK concepts, including collections, streams, concurrency basics and JVM fundamentals.\nProven experience building or maintaining backend services and REST APIs, including request handling, validation, error handling and authentication basics.\nSolid understanding of microservices concepts, service boundaries, inter-service communication and deployment patterns.\nFamiliarity with cloud-native concepts, preferably Google Cloud Platform, including containerized applications, logging, monitoring and CI/CD pipelines.\nExposure to messaging and event-driven systems such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, JMS or similar tools.\nWorking knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries and basic NoSQL concepts.\nHands-on experience with Git, automated testing, build tools, dependency management and Agile delivery methodologies.\nStrong analytical problem-solving skills and clear written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework or similar Java frameworks.\nHands-on exposure to GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage or Cloud Build.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes basics, Helm or containerized environments.\nFamiliarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, API gateways, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT or enterprise identity integrations.\nExperience with databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Redis or Elasticsearch.\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines, Terraform or infrastructure automation tools.\nDomain experience in travel, airline technology, retailing, booking or high-scale transaction systems.\nWork arrangements\nHybrid working mode; 3 chosen days from the office in a week\nFlexible working hours: Maintain your work-life balance by adjusting your working hours to your needs\nPaid time off\nYear-End-Break: enjoy additional fully paid days off during the last week of the year\nPaid parental leave: Take up to 12 weeks off with pay after birth or adoption of a child.
