You will refactor complex codebases, advance system stability and champion engineering excellence through collaborative, sustainable ways of working. This role requires technical rigor, sound architectural judgment and practical experience applying modern engineering practices to deliver resilient distributed solutions.\nWhat you'll do\nDesign, build and deploy high-scale, low-latency microservices using Google Cloud Platform\nTranslate user stories into robust, production-ready code with strong automated test coverage\nRefactor complex areas of the codebase to continuously improve maintainability and performance\nDevelop and maintain clear software technical documentation to support engineering alignment\nPartner across Agile teams to address feedback, resolve technical blockers and deliver enhancements\nIdentify and implement engineering solutions that improve application performance, resilience and stability\nLeverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate implementation, testing and debugging\nWhat you'll bring\nRequired qualifications\nAt least 5 years of hands-on Java backend development experience, including recent production experience with Java 17 or later (familiarity with Java 21 is an advantage)\nStrong knowledge of the Java ecosystem, Spring Boot and designing and building microservices\nSolid understanding of distributed systems principles, including service boundaries, asynchronous messaging, consistency, failure handling, resilience and observability\nComprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements and system design through implementation, testing, code review, CI/CD, deployment and production support\nHands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit 5, Mockito and AssertJ\nPractical experience working in Agile or Lean software development teams\nDemonstrated experience using AI tools effectively for code exploration, implementation, testing, documentation and debugging, including experience introducing AI-assisted engineering practices or evaluating their delivery impact\nExcellent communication skills in both English and Polish\nPreferred qualifications\nDomain knowledge in Order Management Systems (OMS) or airline and travel operations, including orders, PNRs, payments or booking servicing\nExperience with build and dependency management using Maven and Bazel in a monorepo setup\nSolid experience with relational databases and distributed or NoSQL data stores, with Google Cloud Spanner being especially relevant\nExperience designing event-driven systems using Google Cloud Pub/Sub\nExperience building and integrating APIs, particularly gRPC with Protocol Buffers and REST with JSON\nExperience with cloud deployments and containers, with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes/GKE preferred\nExperience with Terraform and cloud infrastructure\nFamiliarity with application security standards, including OAuth 2.0/JWT and Okta integration, as well as Envoy and cloud-native load balancing concepts\nWork arrangements\nHybrid working mode; 3 chosen days from the office in a week\nFlexible working hours: Maintain your work-life balance by adjusting your working hours to your needs\nPaid time off\nYear-End-Break: enjoy additional fully paid days off during the last week of the year\nPaid parental leave: Take up to 12 weeks off with pay after birth or adoption of a child.
