You will be reporting to the Senior Integration Engineer within M-Pesa Technology function.\n\nUltimately, you should be able to create a secure, functional and efficient Api’s and middleware’s for our company, ensuring great user experience.\n\nKey accountabilities and decision ownership: \n\nDevelop digital products – as part of your role, you will be required to develop products that are mobile, api and microservice driven.\n\nDevops – you will be required to develop and support various products. Knowledge of devops tooling is a must: git, docker container, Jenkins, Kubernetes\n\nCreate new ideas and demonstrate them in code – Code quality, understanding of the product and be able to create new services that conform to a standardized development framework.\n\nWork with product managers and external parties in a team – Work with cross functional teams to ensure successful delivery of a product which includes other developers and product owners.\n\nEnsure delivery timelines – Ensuring all projects are delivered on timelines that have been agreed upon.\n\nMaking use of agile and scrum frameworks in project delivery- making use of tools like Jira, Confluence etc.\n\nDeveloping microservices using sprint, sprint security, Kubernetes and dockers\n\nAlways be hands on delivering the highest quality and fixing of issues both on development and production.\n\nInnovative, open-minded for working with new technologies.\n\nSkills & Competencies\nBusiness Competencies:\n\nMust be able to work without supervision & meet tight deadlines/schedules.\n\nA strong desire to learn and figure out how to create state-of-the-art API using the latest technology.\n\nCreativity and Innovation\n\nExcellent Problem-solving skills\n\nBusiness Know how\n\nExperience of working in Fintech organization\n\nSystem thinking ability\n\nWorking with Change\n\nExcellent communication skills\n\nQuick to adopt and willingness to work/deliver in a short period\n\nProject and Program Management\n\nKnowledge of Scrum/Kanban Agile methodologies\n\nFunctional Competencies:\n\nBachelor of Science Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Development or related subject.\n\nExperience in Continuous integration and deployment methodologies using automated tools such as Jenkins.\n\nBasic understanding of cloud computing is a plus\n\nAn understanding of security principles regarding web and mobile applications and tech platforms\n\nKey performance indicator:\n\nDelivery of all assigned tasks as per defined quality and committed timelines.\n\nSkillset modernization – continuously upskill according to M-Pesa Technology yearly skillset modernization program.\n\nQualifications\nMust have technical / professional qualifications: \n\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent\n\nAt least 1 years’ experience in coding in a non-university setting.\n\nExperience in Java, spring boot, spring, spring MVC, JEE, MAVEN, spring cloud. Should be conversant in Java. Other programming languages such as C#, Golang will be an added advantage.\n\nProven experience with integration technologies such as APIs, web services, and message queues.\n\nStrong understanding of microservice architecture – Ability to design, develop and implement scalable, elastic microservice based platforms.
