  • Work with suppliers on electrical components, harnesses, and related materials.
  • Research new electrical technologies, components, and design methods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve product reliability, quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to electrical failures.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical, safety, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support to customers, service personnel, and internal teams as needed.
  • Participate in product development, design reviews, prototype builds, and production launches.

Wire Harness Design Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will have significant responsibility for wire harness development, including:

  • Creating complete wire harness designs and electrical schematics.
  • Determining wire gauges, insulation types, and circuit requirements.
  • Selecting connectors, terminals, seals, clips, conduit, loom, and protective materials.
  • Developing harness routing and attachment methods.
  • Creating harness drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Developing harness BOMs and maintaining component specifications.
  • Designing for manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and cost.

  • Working with harness suppliers and manufacturing personnel to resolve design or production issues.
  • Supporting prototype and production harness builds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field preferred.
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with wire harness design and electrical system development.
  • Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of electrical components, connectors, terminals, relays, switches, fuses, and circuit protection.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with CAD or electrical design software.
