The programme protects customer behaviour, partner IP and rollback while it modernises journeys, APIs, components, data paths, business logic, delivery automation and migration economics.\nThe role contributes to outcome-owned squads. India is a scalable engineering and product delivery centre, connected to Europe and North America through deliberate overlap, shared standards, recorded decisions and continuous support of production outcomes.\nRequired technical and domain skills\nStrong automation programming in TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Python or comparable languages.\nExperience with UI, API, GraphQL, integration, data and end-to-end test design.\nStrong SQL/data validation, REST/SOAP integration and batch or migration workflow testing.\nCI/CD, containers, test data, observability and defect analysis in a cloud-native environment.\nHands-on experience with containerisation and Kubernetes.\nAbility to explain quality risk and evidence in clear English across time zones.\nModern platform skills for this role\nAutomate contract and event-integration checks, secure pipeline controls, release/upgrade/rollback evidence, and migration reconciliation. Make failures observable and useful to developers; apply container or orchestration test environments when relevant to the suite.\nPreferred skills\nHands-on L4G/4GL or Progress 4GL, Crystal Reports, SQL Server/Oracle or Web/Syracuse testing.\nWorking X3 domain knowledge and understanding of metadata, customisation and upgrade risk.\nContract testing, performance testing, accessibility, security or chaos/resilience testing.\nMigration comparison tooling, synthetic monitoring or golden customer datasets.\nCloud environments and partner certification.\nExperience and qualifications\nTypically 6+ years in quality engineering or software automation, with ownership of automation for a substantial product area. Degree or equivalent experience in computing, engineering or a related discipline.\nProfessional English is required for global collaboration. Equivalent practical experience is valued alongside formal qualifications.\nExpected outcomes / success measures\nThe squad has a trusted regression signal for the highest-risk customer and migration paths.\nQuality gates run consistently in delivery pipelines and failures are diagnosed promptly.\nMigration and upgrade evidence supports predictable go/no-go, hypercare exit and rollback decisions.\nManual regression effort and escaped defects reduce without reducing meaningful coverage.\nMeasures should be agreed with the squad and reviewed through the X3 monthly scorecard and quarterly evidence gates. For this role’s owned scope, show how customer behaviour and partner investment are preserved, capabilities become portable, secure, cloud-operable and upgradeable, and quality, reliability, supportability and rollback are proven. Include safe migration and improved cost or delivery economics where relevant.\nKey stakeholders and collaboration model\nWorks with Software Engineers, Senior/Principal Automation Engineers, Product, Architects, Cloud Support/L3, Security, Customer Services and migration/partner teams across India, Europe and North America.\nSage behaviours / leadership expectations\nCustomer Focus, Accountability, Trust, Innovation and Collaboration. Challenges weak evidence respectfully, follows risk to impact and helps the whole squad own quality.\nEvery colleague is expected to protect customer continuity, partner investment, security and the integrity of evidence. Leaders additionally create clarity, develop talent and make accountable decisions visible.\nResponsibilities\nCore accountabilities and decision ownership\nDesign and implement maintainable automated tests across UI, API, GraphQL, data, integration, performance and operational journeys.\nOwn risk-based regression for an X3 domain or platform capability, including legacy-modern equivalence and customisation behaviour.\nIntegrate tests into CI/CD quality gates and make failures diagnosable, actionable and visible to the squad.\nSupport migration waves, upgrades and rollback rehearsals with repeatable evidence and clear exit criteria.\nCoach Software Automation Engineers and partner with developers early in design and implementation.\nDecision ownership:\nTest design and automation approach for owned scope, risk-based coverage, evidence quality and release recommendations within agreed programme guardrails.\nCommon capability baseline\nAll X3 roles are expected to build capability in the following areas. Depth and decision scope increase with level:\nUnderstand X3 customer workflows, metadata, customisation and architecture well enough to protect supported behaviour, partner investment and SaaS readiness in the decisions owned by the role.\nTreat the internal platform as a product: use developer and operator research, feedback and adoption evidence to reduce cognitive load; provide self-service APIs and golden paths where they solve a demonstrated need.\nUse cloud-native service boundaries, versioned API contracts and event integration where appropriate, preserving compatibility and clear ownership across X3 capabilities.\nApply CI/CD and secure software-supply-chain controls, with identity, secrets and policy enforcement built into relevant delivery and runtime paths.\nMake services diagnosable with OpenTelemetry-compatible logs, metrics and traces; define role-appropriate SLOs, reliability and resilience evidence.\nManage performance and cost deliberately, and engineer lifecycle, upgrade, deprecation and rollback paths as part of supported capability ownership.\nUse migration, reconciliation and compatibility evidence to preserve customer data and behaviour while moving towards portable, secure, cloud-operable and upgradeable capabilities.\nUse AI-assisted engineering securely, with human review, privacy and IP protection, regression evidence and a recovery path; use deterministic methods when they are more appropriate.\nDepth follows role scope: engineers demonstrate hands-on lifecycle capability in their discipline; managers, product and programme leaders, and architects need decision-relevant fluency, not universal coding or every tool. Containerisation and Kubernetes are required for all engineering roles. Infrastructure as code, GitOps and a custom internal developer platform apply where the role owns those paths.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6711,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":6,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["ERP & Business Management Software","HR & Payroll Software","Accounting & Tax Software"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-19T09:11:47Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":54,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-21T05:46:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/sage-senior-software-automation-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/sage-senior-software-automation-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-21T07:06:34Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":10063,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-22T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":8779},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=8779"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fsage-senior-software-automation-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fsage-senior-software-automation-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fsage-senior-software-automation-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/sage-senior-software-automation-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fsage-senior-software-automation-engineer"}]}
