The candidate will be responsible for production database support, troubleshooting, performance, backup/recovery and high-availability operations.\nCore ResponsibilitiesProvide L2 production support for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.\nTroubleshoot database availability, connectivity, performance, job failures and access-related issues.\nMonitor and resolve database alerts and incidents within agreed SLA timelines.\nPerform backup, restore and recovery activities and support recovery/DR testing.\nTroubleshoot slow queries, blocking, deadlocks, indexing and resource bottlenecks and perform basic to intermediate tuning.\nSupport HA/DR environments, including Always On, clustering, replication, log shipping and failover arrangements.\nImplement and support database changes, upgrades, patching and maintenance activities.\nSupport AWS database services such as Amazon RDS and Aurora.\nWork with application, infrastructure, cloud, network and storage teams for cross-platform incident resolution.\nFollow ITIL-based Incident, Problem, Change and Request Management processes and maintain operational documentation.\nRequired Skills3–6 years of hands-on database administration experience in enterprise or managed-services environments.\nStrong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.\nHands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance.\nStrong troubleshooting experience in production database environments.\nPractical experience with backup, restore and recovery.\nGood understanding of database performance monitoring and tuning.\nExperience with HA/DR and failover technologies, preferably SQL Server Always On, clustering, replication or log shipping.\nExposure to AWS RDS/Aurora.\nExperience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL is preferred.\nGood understanding of database security, access and permissions.\nExperience working in an ITIL/managed-services environment with SLA-based production support.\nPreferredExposure to Oracle, MariaDB, MongoDB or other database platforms.\nScripting/automation using T-SQL, PowerShell, Python or Bash.\nExposure to Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, SolarWinds, Splunk, SCOM or similar monitoring tools.\nExperience with database migration or modernization activities.\nRelevant Microsoft/Azure/AWS or ITIL certification.\n\nSkills\nOracle, Backup, PostgreSQL, Database Tuning, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Backup & Recovery, Replication, Production Support, Database Administration, SQL Server, RDBMS, Performance Tuning, Backup & Restore, SQL Azure, Production Databases","description_format":"text","description_chars":2820,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-27T10:00:19Z"}],"liveness":{"score":51,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.51,"p_room":1,"age_days":5,"expected_fill_days":19,"reasons":["seen:5","agency","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-02T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":84576,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/sagl-consulting-l2-database-administrator","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/sagl-consulting-l2-database-administrator.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-03T00:52:08Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":603,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4397,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-04T00:00:00Z"}}}
