This incumbent may train and be assisted by lower-level technicians, and perform one or a combination of the following:\nFabricate, install, test, troubleshoot, modify, and repair various wire harnesses on ground and airframe applications. \nConduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data.\nDesign, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment; conduct tests or experiments; analyze results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.\nFollowing specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.\nReview drawings and specifications provided to identify modification and repair-ability issues and special tooling requirements. \nMake recommendations to engineering and project management concerning formability of materials.\nReview drawings and recommend design changes to improve productivity and reduce costs.\nRepair, manufacture, and upgrade various avionics cable harnesses.\nPerform repairs based on drawings and NAVAIR requirements.\nPerform continuity testing using IFD, DITMCO, DVM, 1553 buss testing, RF testing using a PNA, and Fiber Optic testing using handheld light sources with power meters.\nUse various encapsulation and coating materials such as conformal coatings, RTV's, epoxy resins, and paints. \nInstall electrical cables, connectors, and assemblies as well as mechanical components of various complexities requiring a high level of manual dexterity.\n Required education and experience:\nHS/GED and five (5) years related experience\nMust possess a practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic principles, techniques, etc. \nMust have technical knowledge of testing, modification, fabrication, installation, set-up of specialized equipment and documentation requirements for the establishment of repair, refurbishment and engineering support.\nMust have ability to utilize established procedures and associated test equipment to perform radio frequency testing, fiber optic testing, 1553 data buss testing, various handheld semi-automated and automated test equipment.\nMust be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and sketches. \nMust be able to adapt shop practices and industry standards to fit situations in absence of guidelines. \nMust be able to use common hand tools for removal and replacement of various electronic and mechanical assemblies. \nMust be able to use both manual and power-driven equipment.\nMust be able to professionally interface with technicians, engineers, quality assurance personnel and support personnel.\nMust be able to work independently and in a team environment.\nMust be able to follow written, verbal, and drawing instruction sets.\nMust have a thorough technical knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protective measures and practices.\nIncumbent is required to have some practical knowledge of reporting tools (MS Office skills).\nExcellent communication skills; interpersonal; organizational and detail oriented.\nExposure to hazards due to noise levels, various chemicals, lifting, electrical shock, sharp tooling and sharp metal edges.\nCandidate must be able to maintain CAT III overhead crane certification and Ramp Driving Authorization.\nCandidate must be a US Citizen.\nInterim clearance required to start and must be able to obtain a Full DOD Secret Security Clearance.
