The successful candidate will help ensure software assets, licenses, entitlements, and configuration records are accurately tracked, maintained, and governed throughout their lifecycle.\nThis position supports software asset visibility, license compliance, entitlement management, inventory reconciliation, and configuration data integrity across enterprise environments. The analyst will work closely with IT Operations, Service Configuration and Asset Management, Procurement, Cybersecurity, Engineering, and Service Management teams to ensure software assets remain current, compliant, and aligned with organizational standards and business requirements. This work supports the governance of configuration items, change control, status accounting, and audit activities.\nThis role stays abreast of new features and functionality, playing a key role in driving continual service improvement. You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, design user-friendly interfaces, and optimize processes through automation. This position offers the chance to improve the speed, efficiency, and reporting capability of IT services. The Software Asset Analyst will also play a key role in representing current and future capabilities of supporting ITSM tools and contributing to long-term strategy as well as tactical activities leading to the continual improvement of the environment to meet objectives.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDrive execution of creation, maturity and maintenance of Software Asset and Configuration Items in the CMDB\nMaintain software assets, entitlement, and configuration records within ServiceNow and the related enterprise systems ServiceNow integrates with\nMonitor software inventory, software titles, license utilization, and entitlement data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance\nPerform reconciliation activities across tools, software inventories, CMDB records, and licensing data sources\nReconcile Software from authoritative user source systems against deployments in the software asset and configuration system tables\nTrack software lifecycle status, version currency, and supportability\nManage Software True Up and provide recommendations\nSupport asset and configuration item identification, baseline definition, relationship mapping, CMDB administration and IT acquisition processes\nFacilitate software asset governance activities, including license compliance, audit readiness, and entitlement validation\nAnalyze the impact of infrastructure and application changes on software asset, entitlement, and configuration records\nMaintain Configuration Item (CI) data and software relationships within the ServiceNow CMDB\nIdentify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies involving software installations, licenses, entitlements, and asset records\nDevelop data visualizations, dashboards, and metrics supporting software asset management, compliance, and operational readiness\nSupport Configuration Management and Change Management processes to ensure software records remain aligned with approved changes\nRecommend and document procedures, standards and operating practices related to software asset and configuration management\nCollaborate with stakeholders and customers to improve software governance, lifecycle management, and data quality processes\nSupport hardware asset management as backup\nCommunicate work activities and outcomes effectively by using dashboards, power points, and data visualizations to enhance visibility and awareness\nShepherd customization of CMDB consoles and dashboards\nUnderstand the holistic view and impacts of software changes across the Service Management disciplines\nProvide data and support for supplier invoicing and customer charge back\nEnact software asset audit practices and conduct audits to ensure data integrity\nSupport design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB software data\nLiaise and train internal partners whenever necessary\nPlans and implements process and service improvements based on experience and best practice knowledge\nAwareness of relevant government policies, regulations, and guidelines related to software management and puts actions in place to attest compliance\n Required Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR Master's degree and one (1) year related experience\nDegree requirement waived in lieu of significant recent and relevant work experience: minimum of four (4) years’ active-duty military or minimum of four (4) years’ relevant experience\nExperience supporting Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, Configuration Management, Change Management, or related IT Operations functions\nExperience using Software Asset Management (SAM), CMDB, Asset Management, Configuration Management, or ITSM service management systems\nExperience maintaining software inventory, entitlement, licensing, asset, or operational records\nExperience analyzing and reconciling data across multiple systems or sources of record\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders across multiple functional areas\nUS Citizen who must be able to pass a Commonwealth of Virginia background check\nCandidate Should:\nHave strong interpersonal and teamwork skills\nBe a motivated, self-starter with the ability to accomplish tasks under pressure with limited supervision\nHave the flexibility to accommodate time-sensitive and mission-critical work\nHave at least 1 year of proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, collaboration tools and common office software applications\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM), CMDB, IT Asset Management (ITAM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Discovery, or Asset Management modules\nExperience supporting software licensing, entitlement management, compliance reporting, or vendor audits\nExperience performing software inventory reconciliation and data quality reviews\nFamiliarity with ITIL practices, particularly Software/IT Asset Management, Service Configuration Management, and Change Enablement\nExperience supporting Government programs\nExperience with supporting IT chargebacks\nServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or other relevant ITAM/ServiceNow/ITIL
