SETA contractors provide analysis and engineering services in a consulting capacity, working closely with the government’s own engineering staff members. This is a critical role within a team, designed to support a government Program Manager (PM) and Principal Investigator (PI) in ensuring the success and smooth operation of space experiment activities. This role requires a blend of technical, organizational, and communications skills, and is fundamental in driving strategic and operational success within a government program.\nResponsibilities:\nExperiment Management and Nominations:\nTrack and manage experiment nominations within a centralized spreadsheet, ensuring that all critical information is accurately documented and maintained. \nCollaborate with the PI to oversee the submission of experiment documents to include Interface Control Documents (ICD) and software, ensuring they are cataloged, verified for accuracy, and useable. Request updates and corrections as necessary. \nStakeholder Coordination and AI&T Support:\nServe as the primary point of contact for experiment teams, ensuring timely communication and submission of necessary documentation for Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) and demonstration purposes. \nLiaise with space vehicle providers to obtain and catalog user guides, ICDs, and other integration details, facilitating faster onboarding of potential experiments. \nData Management and Record Maintenance:\nMaintain an up-to-date database of all experimenters, suppliers, industry partners, academic contributors, and other stakeholders in the space experiments domain across the U.S. Government (USG) including comprehensive information on ~400 companies from the small satellite industry.\nEnsure that relevant information is documented and archived within the internal Confluence webpage for easy access, thereby enhancing knowledge retention and operational continuity within the team. \nSupport for Strategic Review Processes:\nAssist the PI and PM by preparing and presenting experiment details. This support is vital in evaluating the feasibility of experiments within the given manifest windows, ensuring well-informed and sound decision-making. \nCollaboration and Liaison:\nWork closely with the PI, PM, and other team members to support the successful integration of experiments, ensuring that they have appropriate transition partners. \nFacilitate communication between experiment nominations and Program Offices to ensure alignment with customer goals and to clarify the pathway for experiment transitions. This coordination helps reduce risk and positions experiments for successful outcomes. \nReporting and Communication:\nProvide consistent updates to the PM and PI regarding the status of experiment nominations, documentation submissions, AI&T processes, and any issues that arise. \nContribute to a culture of continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions aimed at streamlining experiment management, AI&T, and integration processes.\n Education:\nBachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s and fourteen (14) years or more experience; master’s and twelve (12) years or more experience; Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. \nStrong technical and administrative skills; familiarity with space technologies is a plus. \nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and organizations. \nProficiency in data management and experience with collaboration tools like Confluence and other project management software. \nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. \nA passion for space exploration and emerging technologies, combined with a commitment to staying informed on the latest industry trends.\nMust be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI w/Poly.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4386,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":9,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Digital Government","Systems Integrators","Engineering Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-24T00:56:30Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":18,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-27T05:46:45Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/saic-space-experiments-system-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/saic-space-experiments-system-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-27T14:58:04Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3732,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-28T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":58788},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=58788"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fsaic-space-experiments-system-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fsaic-space-experiments-system-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fsaic-space-experiments-system-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/saic-space-experiments-system-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fsaic-space-experiments-system-engineer"}]}
