You will own backend systems end to end, from API design to production operations, in an environment where reliability, security, and data integrity matter.\nYou will work closely with product, frontend, ML, and DevOps teams, and help set engineering standards for the team. Scope and expectations are calibrated to your experience \nWhat You'll Do\nDesign and build scalable, secure, and highly available backend services and APIs (REST/gRPC) in Python or Go.\nOwn services through the full lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.\nArchitect data pipelines and asynchronous workflows for high-volume, large-payload data.\nDesign and optimize data models and queries across relational and NoSQL stores.\nImprove the performance, reliability, and observability of production systems, including profiling, capacity planning, and cost optimization.\nWrite design documents, run architecture reviews, and make well-reasoned trade-offs.\nMentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.\nCollaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration.\nContribute to security, privacy, and compliance practices, including audit logging, access control, and data protection.\nWork with teammates across India and the US, with some overlap hours for cross-timezone collaboration.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\n6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.\nStrong proficiency in Python or Go, with idiomatic, production-quality code.\nProven experience building and running large-scale distributed systems in production, with a track record of handling high throughput, large data volumes, or high concurrency.\nSolid grasp of system design: microservices, event-driven architecture, caching, queues, idempotency, consistency trade-offs, and failure handling.\nHands-on experience with PostgreSQL (or similar RDBMS), including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and migrations.\nExperience designing and consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs, including versioning, auth (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT), and rate limiting.\nExperience with AWS (or another major cloud): compute, object storage (S3), networking, IAM, and managed databases.\nProficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.\nStrong testing discipline: unit, integration, and contract tests.\nExperience with observability: structured logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).\nStrong written and verbal communication, and comfort working with distributed teams across time zones.\nGood to Have\nExperience with workflow/orchestration engines (Temporal, Airflow, Celery, Step Functions).\nExperience with message brokers and streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS).\nFamiliarity with Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or other specialized data stores.\nPython frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask, asyncio) or Go ecosystem tools (gRPC, Gin/Echo/Chi, goroutine-based concurrency patterns).\nInfrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).\nExperience in healthcare, medical imaging, or other regulated domains (HIPAA, FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304).\nFamiliarity with DICOM/DICOMweb, PACS, FHIR, or HL7.\nExperience serving ML models or integrating AI/LLM-based services into production backends.\nSecurity best practices (OWASP, secrets management, encryption at rest and in transit).\nContributions to open source or technical writing.\nLevel Expectations\nSenior Engineer (approximately 6-9 years)\nIndependently design, build, and ship complex features and services.\nOwn one or more services in production, including on-call and incident follow-up.\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers.\nContribute actively to design
