SAIT’s Student Services team is excited to welcome a First-Year Experience Coordinator to play a key role in shaping how students begin their journey at SAIT. Reporting to the Team Lead, First Year Experience, this position leads the planning, coordination, and continuous enhancement of student transition, onboarding, and engagement initiatives across multiple intakes and campuses.
This is a dynamic, student-focused role that combines program management, partner collaboration, and event delivery to create meaningful opportunities for connection, belonging, and success. Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Coordinator leads complex initiatives involving hundreds of students, multiple campus partners, and a blend of in-person, online, and hybrid experiences.
Through strategic planning, strong relationship-building, and data-informed decision-making, the incumbent helps deliver a consistent, high-quality student experience while driving continuous improvements that support student engagement, transition, and persistence.
How you'll contribute
- Coordinate and deliver New Student Orientation and first-year experience programs, including in-person and virtual events.
- Lead event planning and logistics, including scheduling, facilities, technology, catering, signage, and on-site operations.
- Support and oversee student volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, recognition, and engagement.
- Manage volunteer tracking systems and analyze participation data to enhance volunteer experiences and leadership development opportunities.
- Coordinate peer mentorship and student transition initiatives, including participant recruitment, program delivery, and ongoing support.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with academic schools, Student Services, Marketing, the Registrar's Office, and other campus partners.
- Develop and deliver clear communications to students, volunteers, and campus partners.
- Lead meetings with partners, establish project timelines, and coordinate cross-functional onboarding and engagement initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and report on program participation, feedback, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement process enhancements that improve operational efficiency and the student experience.
- Ensure accurate documentation, data integrity, and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Lead the development, administration, and evaluation of the Peer Mentorship Program, including outreach, training, engagement strategies, and impact assessment.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in student programming or event management
- Experience coordinating events, orientations, onboarding, or student transition programs.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse campus and community partners.
- Student-focused approach with a strong commitment to customer service and creating positive student experiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage competing priorities during peak activity periods.
