This role independently designs and coordinates electrical systems, produces clear calculations and construction documents, directs modeling and drafting activities, and helps ensure the final deliverable is coordinated, constructible, code-compliant, and aligned with client goals.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nPrepare electrical calculations and construction documents that meet quality standards\nDesign power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, grounding, and related electrical systems within areas of technical proficiency.\nPerform load calculations, service and feeder sizing, voltage-drop analysis, short-circuit/coordination studies as applicable, and code review.\nDevelop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, control diagrams, specifications, and unique details.\nCoordinate fire alarm, emergency power, communications, and low-voltage requirements with the project team and specialty consultants.\nProvide modeling and drafting direction, quality-check own work, and present high-level options to the Technical Lead when direction is required.\nDevelop and execute sprint plan activities\nCreate and communicate the plan of approach to the Project Manager.\nDefine deliverable tasks, dependencies, and estimated hours.\nPrioritize high-value, low-risk activities that keep the project moving.\nCommit to and execute the plan; reconcile progress with the project team as needed.\nCommunicate early and often when roadblocks, scope changes, or schedule risks are identified.\nManage construction administration activities and report to the Technical Lead\nMaintain and update the construction administration log.\nDraft responses to RFIs for Technical Lead approval.\nReview electrical submittals and shop drawings and present recommendations to the Technical Lead.\nEvaluate substitutions, field conditions, and coordination conflicts; elevate scope-creep concerns.\nPerform site visits, document observations, and support punch-list and closeout activities.\nIndependently communicate and manage client and consultant coordination\nCommunicate independently through client meetings, calls, and email exchanges.\nCoordinate electrical design with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, utility, and specialty disciplines.\nProactively identify coordination issues and offer practical solutions.\nAdvise clients early on service strategy, distribution, redundancy, lighting, controls, energy performance, constructability, and system tradeoffs.\nCommunicate decisions, action items, and updates to the project team.\n Participate in and execute continuous-improvement activities\nSeek out and participate in continuing education and discipline-specific development.\nContribute to standards, details, specifications, calculation tools, and best practices.\nSupport mentoring and technical development of engineers and BIM/modeling staff.\nExpand proficiency across system types, markets, delivery methods, and project scales.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required.\nActive Professional Engineer (PE) license required.\nTypically 8+ years of progressive electrical building-systems design experience, including independent project execution and construction administration.\nDemonstrated experience developing coordinated construction documents and communicating directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Revit and discipline-specific lighting, power-system analysis, and specification tools.\nExperience with multiple project types and delivery methods.\nWorking knowledge of applicable electrical, energy, fire/life-safety, and accessibility codes and standards.\nExperience mentoring technical staff and improving design standards or workflows.\nBenefits:\nGain invaluable industry experience and practical engineering skills.\nWork with a diverse team of professionals, fostering network opportunities.\nAccess to mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers.\nCompetitive compensation package.\nLocation: Remote\nTravel: Yes 10-15%\nEqual Opportunity Employment Statement\nSalas O’Brien provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state/provincial, or local laws.
