About the Role
Title - Software Engineering, SMTS - Infrastructure Platform Engineering
We're looking for a strong infrastructure engineer to contribute to high-impact modernization and cloud platform efforts at Salesforce. A core focus is supporting the migration of Tableau's legacy hypervisor and VM infrastructure into Salesforce-managed infrastructure - owning defined workstreams (e.g., discovery, design, and delivery for a specific domain or service area) within a broader effort spanning Public Cloud, Networking, Security, SRE, and Database teams. The role also involves building and operating scalable, secure public cloud solutions (AWS, with Azure/GCP exposure) as part of the platform team.
What You'll Do
Conduct technical discovery for a defined portion of legacy infrastructure, documenting findings and gaps
Partner with Public Cloud, Networking, Security, Storage, OS, and SRE teams to design and implement your piece of target infrastructure architecture (AWS, Private Cloud, or hybrid)
Develop cloud solutions for medium-complexity problems; produce and deliver implementation plans for your workstream
Execute migration/modernization work on assigned legacy VM infrastructure with continuity of dependent services
Build reusable components/frameworks, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines; build automation for ops, self-healing, and alerting
Apply and help refine security/networking standards; participate in on-call rotation
Document architecture, runbooks, and playbooks; mentor junior engineers (AMTS/MTS)
Key Requirements
8+ years infrastructure engineering experience (cloud, platform engineering, or DevOps)
Hands-on hypervisor/VM experience (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and/or AWS (Azure/GCP a plus)
Experience migrating on-prem/legacy VM workloads to cloud at scale
Strong networking, security, and IaC/CI-CD skills (Terraform, Ansible, boto3/AWS SDK, Python/Go/Java)
Experience with large-scale file transport and high-throughput data movement on AWS
Preferred
SaaS/enterprise support experience, M&A infra integration, containerization (Docker/K8s), AWS certifications
