We understand that while work is just one aspect of who we are, a truly inclusive culture accounts for the full authenticity of every single human being that works here. \nAbout the Opportunity\nEngineering Manager for the Platform Engineering (Infrastructure) team - 7 engineers across Portugal and the US, owning the infrastructure every other engineering team at Salsify builds on: Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS and Azure, CI/CD, secrets management, observability, and our internal management platform.\nThis is a hands-on, tactical engineering management role. The team is senior, autonomous and technically strong. They don't need to be told what to build. They need someone who removes obstacles, holds the standard, protects their focus, and represents their work credibly upstream.\nHow You'll Make an Impact:\nRuns production infrastructure across several platforms;\nOwns IMP, our internal management platform (Go, Temporal, GraphQL), through which the organisation provisions services, manages secrets, runs Kubernetes operations and deploys;\nOperates the security programme in partnership with InfoSec - cloud posture, vulnerability management, secrets rotation, access management;\nDelivers a roadmap alongside all of the above: platform migrations, version-currency upgrades, cost reduction and new platform capability;\nWhat you'd own in the first year\nA team of 7 across several timezones;\nThe balance between roadmap and reactive work - the hardest and most valuable thing in this role;\nRepresenting infrastructure upstream - to product teams, to engineering leadership, and increasingly to finance and procurement on cost and vendor decisions;\nThe team's growth and healthiness;\nYou'll Enjoy This Role If You Have\nExperience managing engineers in an infrastructure, platform or SRE context - this team will know quickly whether you understand their work\nTactical strength. Comfortable in the detail: unblocking a stuck migration, making a judgment call during an incident, deciding what gets deferred when everything is urgent\nA track record of protecting a team's focus against a continuous stream of external requests, without becoming a bottleneck yourself\nThe ability to work with senior, opinionated engineers - challenging their thinking without undermining their autonomy\nClear written communication, particularly translating technical trade-offs for non-technical audiences. A significant part of this role is making infrastructure legible to people who don't work in it\nComfort with ambiguity and change\nStrongly preferred\nHands-on familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS - you don't need to write the code, but you need to follow the conversation and ask the right questions\nExperience with cloud cost management and vendor negotiation\nHaving worked in a security-conscious environment - SOC/ISO audit exposure, vulnerability management programmes\nExperience managing across timezones\n#LI-MP1 #LI-Remote\nAt Salsify, we maintain 3 core principles as part of our Compensation Philosophy:\nWe pay market rates, which are competitive and equitable\nWe pay based on performance and proficiency, not tenure\nWe adjust proactively; when the market moves, we do too\nThe posted compensation range reflects the base salary for this position.
