As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.\nMission Statement\nThe Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.\nJob Description:\nPOSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:\nThe Supportive Housing Front Desk Worker will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment in the supportive housing program and responding to tenant inquiries and complaints in accordance with the program plan, contractual agreements, Salvation Army standards, best practices and identified tenant needs. They will report directly to the Program Supervisor.\nACCOUNTABILITIES:\nBasic Functions/Responsibilities\nActs as the main point of contact for all tenants\n\nHandles inquiries and complaints from tenants.\n\nConducts wellness checks where required.\n\nConsistently demonstrates respect and empathy for all guests.\n\nMaintains availability for personal, practical, and moral support.\n\nAnswers the program department telephone and records/remits messages.\n\nAccurately records day-to-day happenings.\n\nLiaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed, provides referrals for tenants where required.\n\nEnsures ongoing monitoring of policies.\n\nPerforms other assigned job-related duties as required to ensure a safe and secure environment.\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nThe incumbent’s work environment is typically in a supportive housing facility which operates 24 hours per day\n\nThe incumbent might require to lift or move items up to 30 lb with no assistance from others.\n\nThe incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: Isolation o Monotony\nOdors\n\nDealing with angry people\n\nVerbal abuse\n\nWork schedule affecting lifestyle o Exposure to bodily fluids, bodily waste o Exposure to drugs and alcohol\n\nThe incumbent may have little to no travel required.\n\nThe incumbent carries a pager/walkie talkie and will work shifts.\n\nThe job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illness due to:\n\nPhysical attacks by others.\n\nExposure to infections diseases.\n\nExposure to bodily fluids.\n\nSharp objects.\n\nOther dangerous situations.\n\nCONCENTRATION REQUIRED:\nThe performance of the job requires continuously monitoring the environment, frequently interacting with tenants, attentive listening, and moderate attention when recording information.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:\nEducation, Qualifications and Certifications:\nGrade 12 education or equivalent is required.\n\nCompletion of a 2-year Community College program will be a strong asset.\n\nCriminal Record Check.\n\nCPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset.\n\nComputer ability.\n\n Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.\nExperience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements\nThe incumbent must have more up to one year of prior related experience, including experience with frontline work in a social service setting.\n\nSkills and Capabilities:\n\nStrong service ethic and a friendly disposition with the public.\n\nAdaptability to change and frequent interruptions.\n\nTeam oriented and able to take initiative.\n\nWillingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.\n\nProblem solving.\n\nPersonable.\n\nOrganized\n\nThe salary range is based on the Collective Agreement, not any other factors.\nCompensation:\nThe target hiring range for this position is $23.64 to $24.02 with a maximum of $24.39.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.\nThe Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
